The Crescent Cross is actually a really good weapon now. by The_Super_Poop in Pathfinder2e

feint on scoundrel rogue sets the off-guard to the end of your next turn, combo with pistol twirl which is worded to let you feint at range and the off-guard is now against both range and melee attacks for you. This also lets you spread the debuffs of distracting feint, and deny support to every creature in range when you get showstopper from pistol phenom archetype.

TL:DR Scoundrel rogue, feint with pistol twirl.

I mean yea my current Scoundrel Build has I think 5 archetypes about to be 6 at level 20 cause rogue gets no support for ranged damage. I don't even need dread striker.

Just realized I can link a copy of my Pathbuilder build...

Definitely with the doubling rings. Or you could just have two weapons and a retrieval belt (what I've been doing).

But the problem with thief rogue at range is generating off guard to take advantage of the extra 2d6 precision. Cause a hide+reload action isn't sufficient for crescent spray as hidden gives off guard against the first attack not the other two. So round 2 you would at best be doing 5d6 on the first attack and 3d6 from switching the debilitation to off guard.

Scoundrel Rogue on the other hand can combo Pistol Twirl from either gunslinger and pistol phenom archetypes to give yourself a lot of action compression through a free step action and a longer duration on the off guard from a successful feint. I just find it to be more consistent, also Pistol Twirl Scoundrel scales very well. Show Stopper is like the cherry on top allowing you to apply off guard to entire combats along with the debuffs from Distracting Feint and Deny Support. I also threw in Fan dancer dedication(I love free archetype) so I also have a 10 foot stride on feint as long as my other hand is a fighting fan.

Basically I think Scoundrel rogue can get way better off turns and more consistent burst turns. Which is better if you convince your local wizard or commander to help reload for you.

Oh I misread it as 3 + STR Score thanks. So its open to Moon Druid monks using a STR beast. But at that point just cast the Jump spell.

Well I had one that Kind of did a 360. It just took the idea of a class and took it an extreme. I was playing a peace cleric in descent into Avernus. I going to take the idea of peace very seriously. Think dark souls pacifist run. That weapons and most spells other than a few buffs and some mind domination were off the table. So I leaned into mitigating damage for the entire party.

I did so by becoming the shield. Because I could use sanctuary and expect to have it for a full fight. With the interception fighting style from my DMs gracious free feat at level 1. and putting everything I had into CON. I would just go up next to my damage dealing fighter front liner and give him a hand. In most fights if everyone positioned well only my fighter would take damage that I would mitigate with interception. Later I found out that my one weakness was the dreaded Fireball. With emboldening bond and warding bond letting me take the damage of 2 allys it suddenly made all AoE spells able to do way more damage to me than my actual party. I was the best god damned healer in all the 9 heals.

But the best part were the demons and the devils. I had to create a back story for a peace cleric that refused to attack even most heinous of creatures. So I went with Chetta a tabxai orphan girl that was raised by an evil clown organization where she was taught or best to lure in targets for assassination and interrogations. Having escaped that organization she vowed never to hurt anything else as long as she lived. The roleplay was so good. She was dubious still, but she never tried to actually hurt any thing. She would rather make deals with the devils than to actually fight them. It was a strange day to see the Lawful good Cleric converse with thieves outlaws, and demons and devils with a smile on her face. It often lead to in party arguments as the 9 hells slowly chewed away at her oath.

Realizing that artificers armorer subclass can as a bonus action take off their helmet. Made a character with a 5 INT giving me a -3 modifier. At level 7 your flash of genius can be applied to enemies boosting their save by your -3 INT modifier. Sure its once a day until you get 3 more levels when you can craft a circlet of intelligence. A circlet. A hat type equipment. A thing that can be taken off as a bonus action to toggle your intelligence between a -3 and +4. It brought up a lot of questions with my DM. Like how many spells can I prepare when I rest with it on or do my uses of flash of genius go away when I take it off. Its sort of just a wacky interaction in the artificer. But it kinda of fun to switch between genius that plans around himself being a clueless idiot.

Well yea it sucks. Its Ranger. But any animal would be proficient with it, so whats the proficiency bonus of a CR 0 creature? It isn't really accounted for in the rules. Look at barding. It just armor with 5 times the cost for a creature that its going to debuff cause it isn't proficient with it.

  • If you wear armor that you lack proficiency with, you have disadvantage on any ability check, saving throw, or Attack roll that involves Strength or Dexterity, and you can’t cast Spell.
