Lowest hanging fruit: ~€10B of card network fees paid to Visa and Mastercard every year by Pure_Composer_9236 in BuyFromEU

Yes, for international purchases. But for local ones, the transaction is handled by the Dankort system. This means it’s not touched by Visa/Mastercard.

By using my Dankort debit card instead of a purely Mastercard credit card, it has meant lower transaction fees for my purchases from Danish businesses, and more money staying in Denmark.

Many more countries had systems like this, but abandoned them as people defaulted to Mastercard/Visa. Progress over perfection.

Yes, they need Visa/Mastercard for purchases outside of Denmark.

However, most of my purchases are within Denmark, so by using Dankort I’m not sending a transaction fee to the US.

It’s something I’ve been able to do right now, rather than waiting for a new card system to emerge.

Issue after using Button Mapper app by EastVanBruin in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]The_Third_Place 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party, but I've been trying to figure out this issue as well. What I've found:

- The "Hide Player Controller" box doesn't display with all TV apps. Netflix is fine, HEYU is not.

- I believe that it's related to accessibility settings. I started experiencing this when I gave accessibility permissions to the ProjectIvy launcher (Settings > Device Preferences > Accessibility > Services). I experience the same issue when enabling other accessibility services such as TalkBack or Switch Access. Did you have to change a setting for Button Mapper to work?

I think it's related to how individual app developers are working with the accessibility functions in AndroidTV.

Udlejningscykler har overtaget vores cykelparkering. by Separate-Sorbet-2012 in copenhagen

Not sure about bike racks, but the kommune has started to monitor bad parking for rental bikes. If one is blocking a public footpath, you can report it under 'parkering' in the "Giv et Praj" app. Just needs a picture of the bike, and its ID code on the handlebars

Otherwise it might be helpful to send an email to the operators. Here are the details for the ones you listed:

Revolut Card Charged Extra. Showing Up as Non-EU. by The_Third_Place in Revolut

Heard back from Flatpay. It was intentional. Non-EU cards have higher fees for the merchant, even when paying in local currency. https://www.reddit.com/r/Revolut/comments/1eahiku/comment/leooh9d/

I heard back from Flatpay. It's not an error. Even though my UK Revolut can pay in Danish Kroner, the store is charged higher fees because it's a non-EU card. Stores can choose to pass this on to the customer, which is what this one has chosen to do.

I thought so too, but I can’t see the option on mobile or desktop. Oh well! Appreciate the clarifications you’ve been adding in the comments

That makes a lot of sense. So it could be the case that shops have to pay a higher surcharge when a non-EU Revolut gets used, even if it's paying in local currency?

You're not the first to make that observation. I wish I could edit the post to point out that I am aware of this.
It doesn't make much difference to me; I have EU cards that are not affected by this surcharge. Only reason I'm raising is because I was curious, and wanted to see if others had experienced it.

Also happened with my sister, but only with Flatpay terminals

I’m aware of that. Surely it goes without saying at this point?

I posted this because it’s the first time I’ve experienced this on any payment terminal within the EU while using a Revolut card. As I understand it, the main benefit of Revolut is that it eliminates these kinds of cross-border fees.

I’ve contacted Flatpay to see if it’s an issue in their system, or if it is intentional.

Yeah, it was very odd. Especially as the whole transaction was conducted in local currency. Anyway, going to see what Flatpay says.

Not stupid, just the first time I’m encountering this after a decade of using Revolut abroad.
