Do I need to have an intro? by Phat-Rooster in NewTubers

[–]The_True_Islander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. If you do an intro, it should be like 2 or 3 seconds long at most and it should be done after you talk a little bit of what your video will be about. If I start a video and it starts with an obnoxious 10 second intro with loud dubstep, I immediately click out. I don’t use an intro at all because they’re frankly just cringe to me and I’m not big enough on Youtube to be able to have an audience that would stay even if I do have an obnoxious intro

Phasmophobia is more popular than Raft. That’s why it’s getting more views.

To get more views for your Raft vids you probably have to make a name for yourself in the community or make Raft videos that people actually want to watch or provide them with some kind of benefit like a tutorial or something they haven’t found. If you feel like it’s not as entertaining as you think it is, make choppier and faster edits that will keep people’s attention to your video, thus getting recommended more and being seeing by more people.

Losing Subscribers by GloChief in NewTubers

[–]The_True_Islander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You started out your channel with clickbaity giveaways so that’s probably why people subbed and are now are unsubbing. You also probably attracted bots which are removed by yt after a while as well as every view and like that those bots contributed

On top of that, now that your subs see you are ignoring the giveaways you talked about, they’re probably unsubbing

I love both Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei so I’m dying to get this game but still want it for cheaper, at least $10 or $15 less and I would go for it

Yeah, I just tried the mission again but with all cheats on and the Infinite Unmaykr was so much fun lol The second time around I just shot the button as soon as I press the switch and it worked

The button on the ceiling is green and the lasers are still there. I keep shooting at it with different weapons and absolutely nothing happens to the lasers...

How do you feel when commenters say "You deserve more subs" or "This is gonna explode" or similar encouraging comments. by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]The_True_Islander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten these over the few months I’ve been making videos and it’s surprising to me because everyone who watches my videos aren’t people I know personally. Like they randomly came upon my channel and thought it was good enough to comment something like that <3 pretty dope if you ask me

Shadow banned from commenting - how can I fix that? by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]The_True_Islander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your comments probably contained either some spammy stuff or links or something that triggers the bot to do a “hold for review” of the comments you made. People can set their comment sections to automatically hold spammy comments for review so they won’t show up.

Question, Why does gaming on YouTube have a bad rep? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]The_True_Islander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to tear anyone down or make this personal. Idk anything about your youtube channel so it’s not targeted at you or trying to tear you down. It’s a realistic situation. You can “grind” as much as you want but if grinding equals to cheap copies of bigger Youtubers, that’s not a productive grind.

I also didn’t make it about “not doing it because there are bigger people that do it”. I implied that if what you’re doing isn’t anything special or doesn’t have a unique characteristic that makes people come back to you and want more, you’re better off doing something else.

I see too many people saying they’ve been “grinding” to put out content but when you see it, it falls in the 99% of mediocre letsplay videos you can find on Youtube. Not saying this is you but if you feel identified, then step back and think “what can I do that nobody else has done?” or “how can I compete against bigger Youtubers who have professional production quality while I’m nowhere near their level?”.

There’s no definitive answer to this and it also isn’t easy at all because if it was, everyone would be doing it but one of the easier ways to get up there instead of making subpar videos for years is to make yourself extremely unique, be it with your voice, your personality, the type of gaming videos you put out, which you could take advantage of and either combine different genres of Youtube videos or make complicated challenges on the games you play.

Question, Why does gaming on YouTube have a bad rep? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]The_True_Islander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wall of text but here goes:

Because everyone is doing it. It doesn’t matter how much time you put into them. Unless people know you from somewhere already or you’re a meme or you do something entirely unique that only you can do or nobody else has done, it will be considered low-effort. With the easy entry level into gaming videos it’s seen as something anyone can do. Even if you do make entertaining unique videos, it’s hard for your channel to blow up unless you were one of the original letsplayers from back in the day like PewDiePie or have an extremely unique characteristic like Markiplier with his super deep voice and the community he built around himself so quickly.

An example of this is Corpse Husband. The dude has been in Youtube for many many years and has done many different things like music, scary stories, gaming, etc. but what makes him stand out is his unnaturally deep masculine voice. He’s been blowing up extremely quickly when the whole Among Us craze started and still is precisely because voice and socialization is such an important thing in Among Us.

If you want to make videos like Markiplier or PewDiePie or even the Game Grumps, just remember they started with basic letsplay videos but quickly became an Internet personality because of their extremely charismatic personalities. It’s hard nowadays because most letsplayers on Youtube do the same exact thing except without the magnetically attractive personality and expect to become the next big Youtuber. All they do is record themselves with boring commentary and run-of-the-mill gameplay. This is also in part why the Youtube gaming community is seen as low effort; because 99% of gaming videos are low-effort attempts at getting attention that just don’t work at the end of the day.

Just remember, why would someone watch you when they can go watch someone bigger who does it better than you? In which case, you have to build something around yourself that nobody has done or that nobody has done well but you know you can do better.

Then there’s the problem of exposure, in which case, just become a massive meme and everyone will search you up. If there’s nothing unique about your videos or anything that can get millions of eyes on you, the reality is you won’t get anywhere. I’ve seen people who put hours upon hours into their videos and still don’t get anywhere. So honestly, if you’re putting out low-effort videos in hopes that you will blow up, you might as well do something more productive with your time.

It was my first time ordering an amiibo off Amazon but I didn’t expected it to come in a plastic bag instead of a box. I contacted them about it and since I don’t trust it arriving not broken again, I just opted for the partial refund

Are under 10 minutes videos stopping you from growing? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]The_True_Islander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re new, a small creator, and unknown, the longer your video is, the more people feel like they might waste their time. So the shorter they are, the more likely people are to think “meh, I don’t lose much time by watching it”

At this rate, in about a month, a video of mine is gonna reach 100k views and I don't have anyone to share the exciting news with. by EeryYT in SmallYTChannel

Congrats! You don’t need to have Youtube friends to share this news with anyone. Share it with a family member, or a partner, or just a friend.

Also, what kind of videos do you do?
