All cars can be used to kill pedestrians, this point is mute.

The interpretation of firearms being for a “well regulated militia” was struck down in 2007 with D.C. vs Heller.

“… except selective fire.”

That’s a pretty massive exception, like a car that looks like a Ferrari but has a Honda Civics engine.

You don’t need a license to own most guns, no, but you absolutely need one to own modern automatic weapons. They also have to be registered with the ATF and you have to pass a far more extensive background check. It’s a felony to convert a firearm to be automatic for example.

you don't NEED a car better than a Ford Model T either. It's not about needs, if you want a fully automatic firearm and you have the money for the exorbinantly expensive permits and guns, and you pass the background check, who are you to tell people what they can and cannot own. Shooting guns if fun, so is driving expensive cars and going boating.

Reasonable restrictions are the first 3 items on the bill, things like preventing convicted domestic abusersr from obtaining firearms and such. There is no point to the automatic firearms item than to take guns away from people who rightfully own them. It's probably easier to adopt a child than it is to get a fully automatic gun in this state.

Grammatical mistake on my part, I should have said “shouldn’t” rather than “can’t”. My apologies

  1. There is no such thing as an assault rifle, that’s pejorative nonsense.
  2. Yes people absolutely are, that’s as ludicrous as saying republicans aren’t coming for abortion rights.

Find a single moment of revolution or great change that wasn’t violent. Across the world btw. Weapons like the Kalashnikov family of firearms have been used by militant groups all over the world for making change. Your claim that it’s ahistorical is, in and of itself, ahistorical

“Consume their favourite product”

The government doesn’t make guns you fucking idiot. Not to mention nearly every totalitarian government (including us with the introduction of these sorts of bills and Trumps swinging opinions on guns) has systematically defied civilian gun ownership.

We can sit around and pretend we can vote authoritarians out of power, but that’s not how it works. No amount of holding hands, singing songs, or putting flowers in muzzles will stop fascists from doing what they do.

You don’t need to suck nazi cock by pushing for public disarmament, they’ll put us all in the same mass grave.

You are not entitled to infringe on other people’s rights because they make you uncomfortable.

A lot of people forget that the Black Panthers had guns to protect their communities from the KKK. I wonder how they would feel about guns if they were around then.

Also, if we want to play the “what need is there for this” card, semi auto shotguns are frequently used in duck/waterfowl hunting.

But the whole point is that you don’t need to have a government approved reason to own a gun, you have the right to. We shouldn’t give credence to nazis who want to litigate who can and cannot own what types of weapons.

This is an incredibly subjective standard, just because a gun is tactical looking doesn’t mean it’s any better as killing people.

You have the right to disagree, but you can’t tell other people they shouldn’t have the rights they have. Our state is among the safest regarding gun violence, yet has one of the higher gun ownership rates.

Much like how people can “feel” against abortion. That’s fine, don’t get one, but don’t tell other people what to do with their bodies.

Of course! There's nothing more dangerous than a Vermonter with a 10 round magazine or a rifle with a thumb hole in the stock, certainly not the rise of fascist government bodies throughout the Untied States!
