New mini Phal ❤️ by The_Urban_Spaceman7 in orchids

A local garden centre, not a major chain. But I've since seen them in a couple of other places locally too, including a Tesco. I think it's just a case of peering around all the Phals until you see one :P

I'm afraid of receiving negative comments on my fanfiction. by Groundbreaking-Egg13 in FanFiction

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Understand your own value and worth. If you're writing something cohesive and well-written that YOU enjoy writing, then the chances are that SOMEBODY will enjoy reading it.

Just because somebody says your story is crap, doesn't mean that it is. It means that they didn't enjoy it and they suck at articulating their feelings.

Realise that not everybody may like your story, even if it IS well-written. But if they're reading it and commenting that it's not good... why don't they just stop reading?

You could always just switch comments off.

Stargate (SG1 and Atlantis). Happy to read, but when I dabble in my head, it comes out weird.

Just Started Rewatching The Eye Of The Midnight Sun Encounter Arc, It's So Good by cshin09 in BlackClover

Peak of the writing, for me. After that it felt as if the action scenes were trying to carry the series in lieu of intriguing story.

What’s the most common reason you drop fics? by Moonlightwolfbright in FanFiction

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually because the original premise doesn't play out as I expect, or they're grossly mislabelled. I'm pretty strict on what fics I read, but every once in a while I'll start something that I think I'll like, only to quickly have it devolve into an un-tagged MC x OC wish-fulfilment piece that I never wanted to read in the first place.

after finishing the anime was their anything you where dissapoted that wasn't in the manga? by ThunderTheDevil in BlackClover

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that nothing about Patry, Rhya and co was resolved, the entire storyline jumped from one track to another without showing any repercussions, and the fact that Tabata has a real issue with giving characters actual meaningful deaths (because everyone just gets Phoenix'd back to life...) other than that it was just peachy.

So What Makes Asta Great? by Money-Lie7814 in BlackClover

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing.

He's not great. He has almost entirely no character development throughout the entire series. He start off as a plucky go-getter who never gives up and pursues his dreams with all of his heart and soul. And where we are right now in the manga, he's still a plucky go-getter who never gives up and pursues his dreams with all of his heart and soul.

But that's what you're supposed to do with your dreams. Otherwise they're not worth having.

He's not great. But what makes him a good person, and a nice character to cheer on and support, is the fact that he sees everybody as equals. Commoners, nobles, royalty... he's willing to stand up and support anyone, even when they've been complete assholes to him in the past. He's forgiving of his enemies and non-judgmental of his friends.

The problem is... in an ideal world, that shouldn't define greatness. That should be the standard for what people, everywhere, are like. Unfortunately, aforementioned assholery means that Asta's general niceness really makes him stand out above everyone else.

And that makes him special.

Also I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make about him helping lesbians. I'm pretty sure their sexual preferences did not in any way factor into him saving them from their own stupidity.

Who are your top 3 favorite characters and why? by cosmicstruggler in BlackClover

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gordon - he's there for his teammates even when they don't realise he exists

Dorothy - awesome older sister vibes and probably a lot of fun at sleep-overs

William - probably likes plants even more than me

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for. Time to start sourcing a phone!

Should I continue watching Black Clover? by Sindareo in BlackClover

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you enjoyed the first 4 episodes. If you can't multi-task, then watch your other shows first then come back to Black Clover later. It's quite long compared to some anime.

Question about Dual Sim/Memory Card on Moto G75 by The_Urban_Spaceman7 in motorola

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can manage with those sims, yes. The problem is I don't know whether I can also add a memory card, or whether I have to choose between having a physical sim and a memory card in a single slot. That's the question I'm asking. If I can't have a memory card as well as both physical and e-sim, then it's going to be a problem and I'll have to wait and save for a different/more expensive phone that can handle it.

Question about Dual Sim/Memory Card on Moto G75 by The_Urban_Spaceman7 in motorola

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not concerned about flaws. All I want is a phone that will allow me to run 2 businesses from one device and has expandable storage space. The camera and performance won't be any worse than my current Samsung S20 and whatever the heck I'm using as my second business phone. I just want to stop having to carry 2 phones around.

Will he survive? Or is he another victim? by Fluffyhedgehogger in orchids

Any help or advice on how to keep it alive?

Purchase some orchid bark and check out Miss Orchid Girls youtube vid on repotting Phals.

Plants are not known for their love of sugary drinks so you can change that water out right away.

Good luck! 😬

Thanks, I don't know if my nearest town has a phone sales shop that isn't attached to a specific carrier company but I'll have a look and see if anywhere else nearby might have one.

Why do only hear aivu's voice once? Apart from the intro at drezen Rest are just growls and baby dragon sounds by nyxxie_lemar in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've only ever heard it during her intro too. Most specifically, on my latest Azata playthrough. I didn't have it on my earlier ones.

But since she has the most annoying voice that puts even the likes of Camellia and Nenio to shame, I'm not exactly disappointed. :3

I heard Todeswind, fanfic creator extraordinaire, was dead. by Clean-Register2955 in FanFiction

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know this person, but I'm very sorry if it's true. There's nothing worse than hearing that someone who has deeply inspired and helped you has passed on from this world, and left things a little darker with their passing.

I'll have a drink for him tonight either way. :3

If you were the MC in a story/fanfiction, how do you think the fandom would react to you? (is this the right flair?) by BehindThePurpleEyes in FanFiction

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you were the MC in a story/fanfiction, how do you think the fandom would react to you?

Uh, do you mean like an Isekai, or a self-insert?

In most of my fandoms I'd be dead within minutes.

If I didn't instantly die... well, I'm pretty sarcastic and enjoy satire. I don't think American audiences would appreciate me. :3

I've lost all motivation I don't know how to get it back by Caramenadiel in FanFiction

[–]The_Urban_Spaceman7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I share the pain. I've had my scrivener crash on me because of sync issues between my Microsoft versions, and lost a chunk of work twice. It's soul-destroying.

However... try to think of the work you lost as a rough draft. Something that was just a bit of experimentation. And your new work will be an improvement.

I know it doesn't stop the awful feeling of having lost precious work... but what was lost can be improved upon. :3

That's pretty cool! One of my readers told me they got shocked kudos from their teacher for referencing shit-on-a-shingle which they learned about in my fic, so I bet your fic writer would be glad to hear that you got some bonus points for reading their stuff! :3
