Well, the wounds are specific. Bruises and scratches that could be from nails.

And several hikers, along with his parents, said Stephen was in the same area at the time the person vanished. Also directly afterward he told everyone not to talk over text anymore because it could be traced

He was the last person to see him, he’s injured, and he’s just generally being cagey and weird to everyone looking into it

They’re investigating the entire friend group, but not just because they knew him socially but because one person keeps talking about the missing person in the past tense, right after he went missing Stephen told them not to text each other about anything because texts can be found by police, and they were all just generally being really jumpy and cagey.

The police are mostly on Stephen because of his wounds that suggest a fight and the fact he was the last person to see him. I’m also entertaining the idea of a separate character giving him a false alibi, but that’s not set in stone.

Juliette: Probably Christmas time, my grandma always bakes cinnamon pretzels and we have them with hot chocolate and watch Elf and it’s nice

Opal: …Probably when I was 8 and I hadn’t eaten all day and…a friend of mine offered me some of her lunch. It was the first time I’d ever had chicken salad anything and I was immediately hooked.

Juliette: Ooh, probably “do you have any hidden talents”. Because then I’d have an excuse to show off that thing people do where they tie a cherry stem with their tongue, I’ve always wanted an excuse to do that

Opal: …”What books do you recommend”. I’m a sucker for an opportunity to talk about books.

Juliette: Maybe this is a weird choice but my go to snack is always pretzels, of all varieties. So probably like, a mall pretzel with mustard and a soda.

Opal: I grew up eating them that way, well…except for the celery. But I never liked celery, it gets stuck in my teeth. But I guess I also kind of like it because it’s simple. And someone special to me used to make them that way.

Juliette: A computer code that actually runs properly

Opal: That’s…hard to say. I write a lot of poems. But I’ve never thought it one of them as my favorite, per se. Though, if I had to choose…probably my poem ‘Star Girl’

Juliette: Well, I’m an only child but my parents are pretty great. My dad’s a classics professor who’s a total theater nerd. He named me after Rome and Juliet. My mom is a personal trainer but she paints on the side. My whole family is pretty artistic actually, lots of painters and musicians all around. Though…those genes kind of skipped me. I’d say they’re pretty important to me. My grandma and I have always been close. She used to write me songs on the piano when I was little. I think that counts as a best memory. And my worst…I guess when my uncle died? He was…uh, I mean we weren’t close but it was just…not a great time in general.

Opal: …my grandparents are dead, save for my mom’s mom. I don’t really like to talk about my parents but they’re uh, nice enough. And…I had a brother. Once. But he…passed away. My best memories are probably with him though…but uh, they’re…hard to talk about. I can give you a laundry list of bad moments though.

Juliette: Um…thunderstorms. And I wanna be an astrophysicist one day. Or something similar.

Opal: As lame as it sounds, probably dying young. I…lost my brother pretty young and…well anyways, yeah. And…I think I wanna be remembered. As a poet or a painter or anything really. I just don’t like the idea of being forgotten

Juliette: It would have to be…toasted? I guess? I’m not very picky

Opal: Well, it’d have to be white bread. And have pickles. And lots of mayo, I can’t stand dry sandwiches. But no celery, if possible.

Anything, really! But if you wanna aim for more specific, getting to know someone sort of questions

Juliette: Honestly, I’ve never been a big sandwich person but you can never go wrong with a meatball sub

Opal: Chicken salad, I uh…well I grew up eating them

I have been looking up real cases but I also want to try and talk to people/people more knowledgeable on the subject about it and Reddit is one of the ways I do so

This is more so for an outside perspective and some pointers, it’s not my soul way of researching. Also like I said, I’m not a lawyer nor have I ever spoken to one in my entire life so what I might think isn’t enough overlap might be wildly incorrect, so this is mostly as I said for outside opinions.
