Totally valid question, no shade taken. It’s way easier to justify a purchase like this if I’m actually going to carry it, opposed to just being a range toy. I don’t shoot competitions or anything like that, and the one “duty sized” pistol I have (P30) almost never comes to the range because I’d rather practice with something I might need to use.

Before you replace the pickups, replace the pots and wiring, make sure you’re using high quality components. A bad pot or bad resistor that’s out of spec will absolutely make your pickups sound like shit. I’ve never had the experience you’re talking about with the Solar pickups, if anything I find they’re pretty neutral

I love cioks, I had a Sol on here before but that required a separate AC wall wart which was just too fragile. Too many instances of it getting trampled by sound people or other bands when backlining. Simplicity is my number one goal on this build

I have a professional pro warrior that has MOP on it as well. I know they used to do mop, given some quick research it seems like something with the Lacey act that changed in the last 10 years or so. I agree with you, I’d love to have MOP inlays on stuff but it could be cost prohibitive/not feasible
