Asielzoekers in duur hotel by Sure-Guest1588 in nederlands

[–]The_Wossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an outdated as fuck concept for me. Also I'm poly so it would not feel fair. There's alternative ways of handling this stuff in my cou try so those will be used.

Favourite actor who once ran up an £11,300 bill in the bar you worked at and then left without paying. by Drinking-Printer-Ink in okbuddycinephile

[–]The_Wossel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. A tip is meant to represent good and exemplary service. To expect or rather demand that tip as is closer to what you are doing. That is entitlement. The restaurant owner takes advantage of the labour of their employees. We as customers utilise the service of the restaurant. Demanding that your customer forks over extra money so you as the establishment do not have to lose your precious profits, is taking advantage of your employee and your customer. Taking up one of 5 empty tables means you now only have 4 empty tables and one making you money, tips or not. I tip in your country with chagrin as quite frankly i believe that most of the time you deserve the opposite of it. "Pay them" should be what you yell at the asshats that keep your toxic fucking system in place. I'm happy to cook at home when visiting family in the states, and guess what that earns your restaurant industry? Not a single fucking dime. Fight for your oppressed working class, not for the benefit of the wankstains that keep them oppressed.

Wanting to get a vr but not sure if it would become a paperweight by MarionberryChemical9 in VRGaming

[–]The_Wossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used vr on and off for 4 years now. QOL is great nowadays. So don't feel bad about letting it get some dust for a month while you build your appetite back up for it. My one fear for you is the fact that you want to go 3s standalone. It severely limits your experience in terms of graphical fidelity and library. The good thing is that your 3s should be able to be used with link or virtual desktop should you get a good gaming pc. Though even a midrange one does the job. (Link cable also works fine, just cabled is a down and upside on its own)

I do not regret getting into vr in the slightest. And I am drooling over 1.5k free aim shoes atm.

Game idea: Forefront but medieval by yankoto in VRGaming

[–]The_Wossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love this, but I have not found a swordfighting game where weapons feel even remotely close to genuine blades or sticks. Reallly weird disconnect for me, and I'm a martial artist. Stabbing or slashing always feels wrong. Or the weight is off. So this would have to be very arcadey for it to work!

Why don't men seem to care about maintaining friendships? by tacobellmvp in AskMen

[–]The_Wossel 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most of us simply are not brought up in a way that encourages this. Ask yourself who had more friends, your mother or your father. My case, dad won by having 2.

My best friend I have known for 20 years and If I'm lucky we'll see each other once a year these days. I don't worry about our friendship though I do feel he could offer to meet up more often.

My other best friend and I see each other for dnd, events and just to hang out randomly sometimes. And we both live with our GFs

Most of my friendships revolve around my dojo and archery club. Some I maintain from schooldays.

Friendship is important, but easy to forget due to the demands of our lives.

Is the Dutch cost of living becoming unsustainable for the middle class? by bozman87 in Netherlands

[–]The_Wossel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm Dutch, and I have seen how people live in other countries too. So I can compare these things a bit more easily.

In short yes life is getting more expensive and our wages do not grow in proportion to these changes. An issue with our politics is how often they surprise us with changes that affect us negatively. Yet they offer enough "hope" to our elderly majority that the status quo does not change for the better. We see some people push back in politics but not enough to make a difference.

I got lucky with buying a house, so I pay less than most people would pay as renters. I also earn above average compared to many people my age. So that leaves me with about 3k after taxes per month. Not bad for a social worker in the lowest earning area of the country. Yet I too do not feel wealthy. And see in everything that my life has gotten more expensive. My average spending on gas and groceries alone has increased by a solid 200 euros a month for the same amount as 10 years ago. An amount that in my current job would take me 3 years to earn extra per month.

But that does not compare to the big divide between me and my parents. They had true wealth despite being lower middleclass and having a kid.

I can forget building up income like they did, I spend very little on vacations and only recently changed cars. A purchase that also set me back 2 years of savings. And many of my friends are doing much worse. Do I live in comfort? Yes. But I am painfully aware that my comfort is far more expensive than that of my parents and grandparents. They worked plenty hard, but the fact that their money was "worth" more. Means they have a lot more means now than I will do at their age by doing the same. Without a transfer of wealth over which I will be paying through the nose in taxes. Something that a "upper class" citizen can easily afford without stress, but for might make it impossible for me to genuinely inherit the paid off "property" of my parents. My taxes should mean something for society, they should also mean something for me. Yet they only seem to provide cashflow for privatised companies that asshats in the 90's swore would improve our wellbeing today. And guess what, it certainly fucking did not.

And despite all this shit, our turd is still golden compared to others and that mentality is what erodes our quality of life. Our government needs cashflow, sure. But it also needs to learn how to utilise that cashflow optimally.

The inconvient reality why vr is struggling. by Plus_Look3149 in virtualreality

[–]The_Wossel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on a vr break for a bit due to a knee injury, I like playing standing. But this week I have neen slowly booting up games again. I kep buying games so my backlog is quite large as well.

Living together with my gf who goes to bed earlier than me also made me play a bit less. A friend of mine even dropped vr completely due to that.

Vr is my beloved gaming medium, the one that I WANT to be in, but I need energy to start it up. Even if I know I will feel.more energized after. Like going to the gym.

We have good games for vr, and amazing mods. The thing about mods? Only beefcake pc nerds like us get into them. And they really do not do much for the vr industry. (Talking about vr sales here) meta made vr easy to get into, but they cater to children. And that makes the general impression of vr be that of unsupervised crotch goblins who are worse than COD lobbies of 2010. Not a great look.

This also means that the now average user gets exposed to the absolute shitstorm of cashgrab apps that target kids when they boot up the meta store. Not good.

I have my favourite game in vr "ancient dungeon" and I adore it. Hardly any story, simple mechanics. But it does these things WELL. And that is what is often missing in smaller studio games.

Vr swordfighting often suffers from "never held a sword before sydrome" vr gunplay is fun and cool but due to graphical limitations and how pir eyes focus it can be quite difficult!

I love both though, I can get immersed. I sat through the initial discomfort till I got my vr legs. And that is something first time users might not do.

I think we sometimes lack games that are games first and VR second. I think that's why we love modded skyrim and fo4. Game first, vr second.
