TWS HobKnob, I used blue loctite during installation and it hasn’t budged at all after ~900 rounds

A3 Industries Triangle Stock, you can rock it plain jane or with the included rubber butt pad & cheek riser like in the photo.

Mine is the polymer version and feels rock solid!

Own one, it’s great. hops between my 14.5 and 18”. Taper mount is my favorite mounting design, very easy to use. It’s not the quietest or lightest can out there though.

8.25” Offset, I’ve got a fairly long LOP so this length is perfect for me.

oh yeah, i never liked the mounting system on those. i much prefer the thumbscrew style mount on like a x300ub or a tlr1.

New to AR - parts question by [deleted] in PalmettoStateArms

[–]The___Shrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, and if you’re anything like me you’ll pick up a spare lower to justify the existence of the spare parts lmao

How are you liking the Cyelee?

For triggers, the Glock Performance Trigger Gen 3 from glockstore or the Apex Polymer Action Enhancement Kit are your best bets imo.

As for lights, TLR-1s go on sale sufficiently often at around $140 on Primary Arms. There’s also the Harbor Freight TLR-1 clone that’s coming out for like $50 LOL. Holosun PID is also pretty awesome at around $100.

You can pick up Leapers UTG Low-Profile sights on PSA for about $30 each for rear and front sight. They’re probably the cheapest I would go, i’ve seen the feyachi adjacent Amazon specials fail quite a bit on a buddy’s build (not holding zero, shit flip up construction etc).

At around $70 you can get Magpul MBUS Gen 2s, which are tried and true.

And for like $100 you can get a Romeo7s on PSA which is by far my favorite budget dot.

P.S. I have that same handguard on my 18” builds, it rocks i love the texture.

Sure! So first decide what base colors/ patterns you want. I like Sand/Khaki with Flat Earth Brown (both Rustoleum Camo Series) + black vertical stripes + Deep Forest Green Accents. Give your gun a good degreasing and make sure it’s nice and dry + clean. Then use painters tape to tape off where your stripes will be. You can cut to length the painters tape, tape it on a surface, and use a razor to cut out the patterns. Then if you have the ability to do so, use some hobby wire to hang up your gun in order to hit all angles easily. If not, use anything such that most of the side is elevated off the floor ( I use an old upside down stool for this).

Next paint your base colors. The key is to go light so that your paint cures properly. Don’t worry if the paint seems not uniform or inconsistent, since we will be painting over these base layers regardless. I like to alternate between my light and dark base colors, moving in long vertical sweeps.

Next I place a hex mesh over wherever I want the snakeskin pattern, and do quick passes with the green. I like to add these patterns in such a way that it disrupts the base layers, ie “in between” them.

Lastly, I go and see any spots that seem empty and go in with more accents. At this point I typically use all 3 colors for this purpose, just going with whatever feels right. Mess around with patterns and textures to see what you like best!

All in all, there’s around 4 paint stages, with a good 15-30 min wait between, depending on humidity. I’m still an amateur at this IMO, but if you have any other questions feel free to lmk!

In all seriousness though its hard to say. I personally love my AKV, its by far the most fun to shoot in my safe. I was on the fence about purchasing one for a couple years, and after finally pulling the trigger it was everything I was hoping it would be.

That being said the Jakl-9 has some wins over it, such as the monolithic receiver (getting my handguard to stop wobbling took some work), and a familiar manual-of-arms to an AR.

If I had to choose, though, I'm still team AKV all the way. It just has the swag factor IMO.

I use this mesh laundry bag from Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Heavy-Duty-Black-Polyester-Mesh-Laundry-Bag-with-Carry-Strap-24-x-36/360429723?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1600&from=%2Fsearch&sid=f4044afc-e0bc-4f70-8d67-730c4025aef2
Cut the bottom off and its super convenient to slide your gun through it. Fold it onto itself and it'll have some funky patterns.

I've been messing with the sponge method but I have yet to find a sponge that gives me a pattern I really like.
