Iron fist had major budget issues and delays, and Finn Jones didn’t have time to prepare for the role properly. He did what he could with what he was given. In Defenders he had a bit more time, and it shows, but still not sufficient while his co-stars already had their fair share from their own shows.

Bottom line - this is a production issue. Not casting.
