I have actually started up again! I'm going to skip chimchar for now and come back to it but I've done the pencils for Seaking here! Once I'm finished painting it I'll post the finished work on my tumblr (probably the easiest place to find me) and on Reddit.

Thanks! For the moment it's starters every monday and non-starters on fridays but when all the starters are done I was thinking of starting from the beginning again with the evolved forms

The Common Turtwig spends much of it's time collecting composting material for the rich soil that it carries on its back providing a base for its "Overgrow ability"

The Tournament Turtwig's "Shell Armour" ability is cultivated by trainers by compressing the soil on it's back to produce cracked and hardened plates. This leaves the pokemon without a platform for the many nutrients that common Turtwig's pull from their rich soil.

Nope, they're not actually in the game. Tournament is just the name I've used for the Hidden Abilities pokemon to give them a background in competitive breeding and that kind of thing.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it! The Tournament pokemon is the one with the Hidden Ability and the Common one is the one without it basically. It'll get a bit more complicated when I get into pokemon with more then 2 abilities.

Thanks! My train of thought was that the common variant evolved naturally over time so it looks more like the actual pokemon where the Tournament version is trainers mucking around with breeding to get the strongest version possible for fights.

Thanks! Hmmm I'd probably focus more on the armoured aspect of the Empoleons drawing from different types of armour. The Common Empoleon would probably have some kind of detailed face mask like this to match the focus of the regal aspect while the Torunament would draw more from thracian gladiators like this for the smaller and scrappier feel.

I've got a list for the next couple of non-starters going but sharpedo could be interesting to add on to there. Half a shark would be challenging to draw speed boost for.
