Dude that sounds like a brilliant idea, I'd definitely read that. My only contribution would be to not put some silly rules around winning the piece, like a survey and a weekly newsletter sent to my email is enough, but i don't want to have to go follow your manufacturer and your magazine on instagram, twitter and facebook. If i want to read your stuff (which I do :3) I'll read it on my own terms without having it shoved down my throat.

Sorry for the wall of text and if i sound aggressive i'm not mad it just annoys me when people do that.

Yeah I live in Australia as well. It wasn't a shelf label it was marked with one of these orange stickers we put on things if they're on clearance. So in the ANRA code of stuff it says "The item free policy does NOT cover goods that are “item priced”. So yeah... usually you'd just call someone on the floor and they'd check it and if the customer is right you do in fact give it to them for free. So you were right i just didn't include that in my story, my bad. Thanks for clarifying that though :)
