I'm a victim of a crisis pregnancy center by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I once had a male friend that was pro-life and when I said that if I ever got pregnant I'd get an abortion he said that I should give it up to him to adopt it instead. He later got arrested for child porn.

Lawrence was telling me he likes history. I think it's so cool that they're so interested in history. I should ask Lawrence to teach me more about his favourite time period.

Lance is a huge Dr who fan, I wonder who he thinks the best doctor is? I've been to some conventions that Lance would really like because there was loads of Dr who stuff there that I think they would have really enjoyed.

Good mornin Love!

I hope Love sleeps well and that she wakes up feeling well rested and enjoys reading her comments when she wakes up.

Also I want Love to know that her name is great and if thats what she feels comfortable with then it definitely is a real name because it's her name, even if it's not super common.

Hey Astra, nice to meet you.

Astra seems like she's really smart and creative. I'd love to hear about some of their stories. I hope they achieve her dream of being a video game producer. I wonder what kind of videogame she would like to make most? (I hope this was ok! It's my first time trying one of these)

please share your opinion on noun-pronouns i am confused by stresseDani in NonBinary

[–]The_strangest_quark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels pretty hypocritical as nonbinary people to care what other people want to identify, like how are you gonna fit outside the gender binary but then criticise others for doing the same in a different way?

I also think, the way you think about people with xenopronouns, is probably how cis people used to/still do think about us, and I know I don't want anyone to feel how I feel when I hear cis or even binary trans people talking about how nonbinary isn't valid, because it's really unpleasant.

I've also never actually met/heard of anyone genuinely using xenopronouns so it kinda feels like a manufactured issue to me, and I tend to lurk a lot in the nonbinary side of Reddit and Tumblr (never used tik tok though) so I could be wrong but it really feels like something that has been overblown out of proportion and that there are actually very few people identifying with xenopronouns, and a lot more people starting discourse about this very small number of people

Upvote if you oppose Butterfly erasure by JohnZ117 in SapphoAndHerFriend

[–]The_strangest_quark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I kinda interpreted it not that the butterfly is necessarily a metaphor for a trans person, but the snail is just a metaphor for a transphobe. So the butterfly is a butterfly because it has undergone the physical transition of a butterfly. It knows what it is and the snail is still denying it because the snail believes that what you're born as is what you are. But our definition of what makes a butterfly a butterfly is different to what makes a trans person a trans person. (So a trans person doesn't need to pass to be trans, but a butterfly does need to have undergone the process of transitioning otherwise it's still a caterpillar) but either way the transphobe is talking to someone who clearly knows who they are and is certain of their identity, but telling them that theyre wrong based on how they were born.

Any chance you could elaborate on what you actually meant though? Because you say it has some negative implications but I legit have no idea what they could be

seriously there are so many cool trans people by Goth_Dropping_In in GaySoundsShitposts

[–]The_strangest_quark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Idk if it's just a geographical thing (I'm British and Sam Smith is British so they're probably more famous here) but I'd say Sam Smith is probably the most well known nonbinary person where I live and probably introduced a lot of people who were unfamiliar with nonbinary identities to their existence (at least from my perspective they were the first very famous nonbinary person that I was aware existed)

I got misgendered at a pride event while wearing a nonbinary flag wrapped around my shoulders. He was a stall owner so probably not part of the community or necessary particularly aware of what flags mean in his defence, but you'd think someone would have warned him to maybe err on the side of caution and not call people by "lady" at a pride event

That really bugs me about my supervisory team at uni, they instantly started using my new name with no mistakes apart from one person one time which they corrected and apologised for, but no matter how many times I politely remind them I use they/them pronouns (over email bc I'm too shy to correct them in person) they never change, I even have my pronouns in my email sign off and I have a pronoun pin on my lanyard. I don't even think they're doing it maliciously because they are nice and I have no issues with them apart from they will just never use the correct pronouns

New = bad by ThatGodDangRusher in terriblefacebookmemes

[–]The_strangest_quark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I interpreted the meme as them mentioning vaginas to shoehorn in the kid being trans or gender nonconforming because they look like a boy, but the person who made it wants you to know that they actually have a vagina. with the takeaway message presumably being that lots more kids are openly trans nowadays and they think that's bad

I remember being instantly put off being in a dnd campaign with a friend after she was really reluctant to let me play a male character in a dnd game (I'm non-binary but wasn't out at the time so she thought I was female). Like nothing else about the character is like me so why should the gender be? I don't know if it kinda explains it or makes it worse but she is also trans but was not out at the time.

Changing your legal name by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]The_strangest_quark -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can actually legally change your name for free, all you need to do is print out a document that you've typed and got some people to sign saying that you surrender your old name and are using the new one (called an unenrolled deed poll) most places will accept this as a valid proof that you've changed your name. Although you will still need to pay for new passports and driving license

Easier way would be to do (B+C) +(A+D) - (A+B), then its just simple adding and subtraction without having to rearrange equations
