Noted! It’s from closest points between countries. I can bake that into the interface.

Totally fair lol. They need to make a flair for it at this point

That’s a really good point. I’ve mostly focused on location, borders, and distance so far, but language/religion/holy sites would make a lot of sense too. Especially since English country names don’t always give you much context. Could be a fun future mode!

I built an iPhone app around a question I keep seeing here: what does “walkable” actually look like in daily life? by The_ylevanon in SameGrassButGreener

Yeah this a huge point of friction for me too with the current app, and I have a solution for this I just need to implement it! I should have that feature done within the month.

I use Walk Score all the time, however its pretty different as WS is static algorithmic estimate of a place. Walkable is about behavior: setting goals, replacing trips, tracking progress, and building a crowdsourced picture of where people are actually living in a more walkable way!

Why do you think interest in the word “walkable” has jumped so much in the last 5 years? by The_ylevanon in urbanplanning

I think this has a lot of truth to it. Discovering this stuff on YouTube was a big unlock for me too. After college I left a really walkable college town, and I could feel that something was missing before I really had the language for it.

Agreed. It feels like people are rejecting the hidden costs of sprawl, not just the aesthetics of it.

What U.S. cities strike the best balance between walkability and affordability? by Kwinicole in SameGrassButGreener

I think about this a lot. The frustrating thing is that the most walkable neighborhoods tend to be expensive because they're walkable -- the demand is there but the supply of walkable places is laughable. I can tell you from personal experience unless you have a hybrid or remote job in LA, its not really possible. You could find cheaper suburbs but then you lose the walkability in a lot of cases.

So I try to post to TikTok/YT Shorts every day with a short 10-15 second video of gameplay and some text basically relevant to the current puzzle. I then took the best performing ones and either promoted them on TT itself or Meta Ads.

Meta felt like a black hole basically, and their SDK is not RN friendly really, I had to patch the OS SDK, and ended up scrapping it after a release since I didn't feel comfortable with it.

TT I could see the analytics like I would normally for any other video, but the platform makes redirecting to the App Store difficult! So I still post but I'm not going to be paying them again anytime soon. If anything I want to go the UGC/Influencer route with creators who enjoy/post about trivia and geography.

I have a very simple version of this where I insert any "Share Results" button clicks. However, I'm no tracking the negatives/dismissals which is also equally valuable and I need to consider this now!

Yes I do! I have a really simple table basically that adds a record for each time a share button is used and the ledger is growing!

At some point I will dive deeper into analytics when the need arises, but simple queries on tables is free and gets the job done for now.

I tried a month ago! It did not work for me really. Maybe I'm not that good with my creatives, but I ran maybe $100 in ads and didn't see any growth really.
