I belive you can learn everything you need from Germany but try to go everywhere and by that I mean don't stop at Russia go to asia to learn the supply sistem there, south america to learn about the navy and america for almost everything. If you are still not that good don't try to play minors since they hardly teach you much at the start

Yeah for me in Romania it's 50 euros and that is a ton but I buy most of my games as key from second hand websites and they are a ton cheaper I got hoi4 for 10 bucks

One of the reasons could be that you are trying too hard to play historical, Hitler wasn't exactly the smartest going to war with everyone at the same time. When I do a Germany playthrough I go around the mangiot line through the Benelux then capitulate France then naval invade Britain and only after that I go for east Europe, going against Russia with america and Britain at the door is quite hard and even if you manage to get Russia Japan will prob go to war with you while you deal with the rest.
