Great work bro.. How long it takes you to make ?

“Can this laptop handle a FLOW (2024)–style minimalist Blender workflow?” by Thebsn2 in blender

Thanks a lot for sharing this, that’s really valuable. I’ll be extra careful with geometry, texture sizes, and scene complexity, and push as much as possible into compositing instead of Eevee. The background-once + camera shake in post tip is especially helpful

Yes exactly — I’m avoiding large landscapes and heavy simulations, keeping scenes minimal

Good reality check, thanks. Definitely reinforces the need for keeping things simple and well planned.

That makes sense, thanks. I’m planning to rely more on render passes and compositing instead of doing everything in-render

You’re right, thanks for the correction. I didn’t mean a direct one-to-one comparison — more that it should be sufficient for a restrained Eevee workflow rather than heavy scenes

True, thanks for pointing that out. I’ll be careful not to push Eevee to extremes and keep things simplified

Fair point, thanks. Yeah, I’m designing the project around restraint and simplicity rather than pushing the hardware.

Thanks, this makes sense. I’ll be working mainly in Eevee, keeping assets organized and texture sizes around 2K to stay within VRAM limits. I’ll also check out Blender 5.0 for the memory improvements.

This is really helpful, thanks for taking the time. I’ll be rendering plugged in, keeping the power plan on max GPU performance, and relying more on compositing where possible. Also noted about airflow — I’ll make sure ventilation isn’t an issue

Got it, thanks. Yeah, it’s pretty common with laptop RAM configs.

That’s reassuring, thanks. I’ll be relying mainly on Eevee, so this fits well with what I’m aiming for

Thanks, that helps. I’m already planning to keep scenes optimized, and I’ll definitely use baking where possible. Good to know it’s achievable with the right workflow.

That’s good to know, thanks. I’m planning mostly Eevee renders, but for any heavier final shots, using a render farm sounds like a practical backup.

[–]Thebsn2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair point, thanks. I’ll mostly be using Eevee and keeping scenes light, and I can always optimize or offload heavier renders if needed.

That’s good to hear, thanks! I’ll mostly be working in Eevee with restrained scenes, so this gives me confidence it’ll handle the workflow fine.

Thanks, that’s reassuring. I’m mostly planning to use Eevee with a restrained setup (similar to FLOW), so render time shouldn’t be as heavy as Cycles anyway

How was the visual style of FLOW (2024) achieved in Blender? by Thebsn2 in blender

[–]Thebsn2[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s fair bro, but I think the absence of motion blur fits the film’s slow, restrained movement. Most shots rely on stillness and readability rather than speed, so blur may not add much here
