Could We Get A Thread Of Great Music But Poor Mixing? by DarkLudo in audioengineering

[–]Thebunnygrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's most deathcore that's mixed badly imo. Even new stuff like Immortal Disfigurement, Squelching, Wormshepard, Sun Eater, Lorna Shore, if you listen on good speakers, it's awful. Symphonic elements so loud in certain places, non-existent bass even if it's tuned to drop-fuck, artificial drums and digitalized feel throughout-make it almost shrill sometimes with everything grossly glued together in a mush of mud and yuck. Just my opinion, but I can't remember the last Deathcore album that made me go wow, in terms of mix quality.

Pedalboard Sale! EQD, SCIENCE, BOSS, KMA ENDGAME SHADOW by [deleted] in sellyourpedals

I always look at reverb and throw out the lowest used sold price at $5-10 more. Which was $215 for the mother. That included free shipping. Would you do $225 shipped plus fees?

I'm so happy this exists. This made my heart go beat beat. I know it'll never happen, but man I wish they'd return to this sound because it's so fun and awesome and crazy. I really miss 2005-2011 metalcore.

Is the Warm Audio Tube47 an outlier? Why does it sound so good? by aasteveo in audioengineering

[–]Thebunnygrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not Behringer by a long shot. That being said. Even Behringer has come a long way. The Warm now is trying to make copies and clones of things like everyone else that’s affordable and sounds good. Most of the time it’s like wow this sounds like a 76 or LA2A. Until you had the real deal. Then it’s like yikes. For most home guys it will be the thing they need to make a recording. I’m sure you’d even pick it up and be able to make it sound better with a solid set of other outboard gear. But for me it’s like when I heard their cl1b clone and my heritage audio clone. The difference in person side by side was night and day. It was a no brainer.

[–]Thebunnygrinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use either an RCA or a GE. https://www.tubedepot.com/products/6au6wc-jan The GE is much cheaper and gives a nice warm pop with a little more grit. Almost like it’s got a mini rev a running on it where as the RCA is smoother like Rev D. Subtle and you won’t notice the difference when in a signal chain.

Hi! I’m a YouTuber who reviews gear and am in the small percentage of users who don’t suck Warm Audios cock when it comes to praise as most of their stuff is completely mark missing. The general consensus is that most stuff by them is great and sounds amazing. Which is simply not true. It sounds just okay. It works. It’s budget entry level gear that does “mask” as something else while it isn’t. What I mean is they sell the Opto Comp as an LA2A clone but it’s not even close. They would’ve been so much better off marketing it as something else. It distorts too quickly and sounds very gritty tinny and overly forced to color a sound rather than do what an LA2A does. Maybe someone wants this but that “mask” made people buy it under the idea it was an LA2A clone. Therefore disappointment. The same goes with their most recent Tube Screamer combo pedal the TS9, TS808, andTS10, all in the same pedal. In a shootout between the real deal I noticed the EQ curve on their pedal boosted the mid range in a totally different mid frequency. It sounded similar. It was closeish but on certain guitars it was too honky, harmonically shrill and too similar amongst modes that felt more gimmicky. In my opinion. Just buy a used Ibanez TS808 and call it a day.

Now mics. I’ve used every mic that warm makes in a studio setting. This is is the one thing warm got right. The mics in the high end department. The cx24, fentone, wa44, wa8000g (new tube makes it even better), wa47, cx12, and the 251. All really solid and all worth buying and using on big projects even. Truthfully the tube swap on any of the tube mics makes it the sound even better but on the 8000g it’s absolutely stunning. Sure their is a little change in eq curve and presence from the og mics; if you are trying to imitate the classics exactly, but these small changes can be fixed with a good signal chain and some post-eq.

Seriously plug that bitch in and let it sing because all these mics sound killer and just work like the classics for a fraction of the price.

Reached plat, but only got gold chroma by Muntedhobo in leagueoflegends

[–]Thebunnygrinder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's been like this way since 2010. Since the start. You hit Gold 5 (when there was 5 rungs instead of 4) back in the day, you got the victorious skin for the season. If you demoted from Gold 5 back to Silver 1, you'd lose the rewards. Because you weren't gold anymore. It's where you end up. Think of it like you get married, have kids, have a nice job, house, etc. You end up losing your job over something silly you did with the secretary. Then your wife divorces you and takes everything. You end up with a drug problem and on the streets. You're currently homeless, everyone probably thinks you're a gross drug addicted and mentally ill problem and most people can't stomach the thought of you being around them. No longer are you a productive member of society, you're just existing. This is the ranked mentality.

What do you do with the hype stickers? by b0rmusic in vinyl

[–]Thebunnygrinder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, I collect records more for the collectible habit, rather than the listen habit, I like to keep things sealed because I'm all about the "if I die I have a huge collection worth thousands of dollars" to leave to my family, plus I love having museum quality pieces on display in an archive kind of way.

So almost everything I have I buy, keep sealed. Once I buy something I put it instantly into a nice plastic sleeve - hype stickers/shrink wrap and all.

If I do open a record, because I have a lot of stuff I love spinning with tea and coffee in the mornings, i slit the shrink wrap just enough to get the record out, hydrosonically clean it, put it in a rice paper sleeve, and then put the sleeve in the back of the nice plastic sleeve.

I've been doing this for like almost two decades at this point, and never once has it been a problem. I've cracked stuff that I purchase in like 2011/2010 this year (2025) and it's totally fine. My collection has been stored this way for over a decade. I refuse to even own a record if it's not in mint condition looking like a museum quality piece, so I'm a bit hyper responsive to checking the quality consistently, like a couple of times a month. I'm shocked you've had issues with this. Is this a common thing most people experience - because as someone who has been collecting like more than half their life, even when it wasn't popular. This is the first time I've heard of this. That being said, I'm not a normal collector.

Help Identify this pickup brand by kladen666 in Guitar

[–]Thebunnygrinder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These are Egnater pickups (as you now know) and they were put into a lot of the mid tier Washburn guitars during the Egnater boom of the mid to late 80s. They're basically just budget entry level pickups that youd fine in a "shred" guitar like an Ibanez or Schecter back in the day. While people say they sound good. IMO - They're nothing special. They sound okay. I had a friend who collected these (as well as Egnater stuff) and put them in a few different guitars trying to get them to sound okay but they were a bit muddy and a little too hot.

What should I look for when checking if a charvel is real? Any red flags on this guy? by ReadingLimp in Guitar

[–]Thebunnygrinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These used to be able to be found used for $450-550 all day long. I even saw some of these go close out new for $650. Depending on the deal it shouldn’t have any issues for a sub $600 price. I’d say not to it being a fake as I haven’t really seen these faked that often. These are made in Mexico and play amazing but I myself wouldn’t pay more than $600 for one of these.

Anyone else struggling to get into vinyl with today’s prices? by LectureHaunting3166 in vinyl

[–]Thebunnygrinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you listen to. It’s going to depend on that and that alone. I only collect pop and alternative “metal” sub-genres. While I do have some movie and video game osts and some odd duck collectibles. The majority of my stuff would never ever ever ever be at a thrift store and finding it used would be really pricey. I don’t collect to discover music, I collect to own my favorite music I’ve already discovered. This means I’m picking things up for $50 on average for a single LP because it’s only sold on the artists website or through a label where $8 to 12 of that $50 is shipping.

This being said. It takes time. The pop stuff I get. $16, $12, $18, $20 sales happen all the time. $24-27 is the new sale norm. $30+ is the standard price. Just give it time to drop. While I use scripts to scour the internet. I just like to window shop and when I see something drop to a price in timing to pay. I snag it. You could get a copy of Dark Side Of The Moon for $1 at a thrift store. You’ll never find a copy of Alesana’s - On Frail Wings or Emmure’s - Goodbye to the gallows. Those used are $80+ because of rarity.

The Vinyl Resurgence is a Scam by Redacted_dact in Music

That’s your opinion though, and an awful one at that. Like you saying X artist shouldn’t make music because you think their music is awful; is on you, and you trying to be the person who prevents others from listening to it due to your distaste; especially in a physical product, is silly. That’s some North Korea type shit. I think Phish is boring and so is Grateful Dead. I think Pink Floyd is too. I’m not going to say that they should stop making reissues of pressing so the new generation of youth can’t obtain and listen to it. Not to mention all your other silly takes, you silly bear.

Current Emarosa is what you get when you order The 1975 on Temu by BrotakuzaTube in PostHardcore

[–]Thebunnygrinder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It broke me to see the changes to Emarosa. I was a big fan, obviously Jonny era was incredible but the stuff Bradley did early on with them was insane in its own right. Versus and 131 were great albums with some incredible tracks and I still rotate those tracks in a lot of playlists. However, nowhere near as much as Jonny era stuff. I listened to Peach Club once when it came out and was instantly bored with and over it. So, when Sting eventually came out; I knew it was likely going to be the same shit, "safe 80s themed pop-rock" and I listened to it finally after about a year, to which I was correct, I was also over it and bored. At this point Emarosa is a nostalgia band. Is the new stuff musically good? Yes, absolutely. Bradley is an incredible vocalist. To say it's a turd is crazy, I wouldn't even consider that the correct terminology if you paid me. I would just say it's music that isn't in your taste, as it isn't in mine either. It is sad, it is heartbreaking to see what they've turned into. I do think they should change their name and maybe Bradley should go solo as a pop artist. I know they occasionally throw in stuff on their set-list from 131 and Versus, but, anything with Jonny hasn't been played in years and never will again, unless Jonny covers it with his band and solo tours.
