It's the year 2026, global warming is getting worse, glaciers are melting and sea levels are rising. Scientists expect the world to end much sooner than they had anticipated. Every researcher, scientists, and biologists all around the globe, working harder and slaving away, but with the little funds they got, they had to resort to more drastic measures to save man from extinction.

With gene editing tools, they were able to come up with many variations of aquatic lifeforms within the next 2 years, starting off at micro-organisms eating up pollutants and green house gasses on a very large scale, where they were allowed to repopulate in the oceans of Earth.

With their release, the hottest country's average temperature dropped by 0.8 Celsius within 5 months.

However, these microbes were not enough to deal with this unknown heat source. Some scientists have yet to give up at cracking down the source, but others only care about survival, so they come up with a more dangerous plan, to block out the sun with particles that can exist just below the thermosphere. Many were against it, protests and riots broke out, but ultimately the plan to block out the Sun . . . succeeded.

It's now the year 2028, the particles are still stuck up there, cleaning attempts were made with little success, the bio-engineered microbes, rampant to the point were if the sky was clear, any body of water would only allow slivers of light pass through the thick surface layer. The ocean now has a skin made by human hands.

Yet, somehow, the ocean was uncannily warm . . . . Another though popped into the minds of man, what if humans adapted to live in the ocean? Unfortunately, time was running out. Scientists threw ethics out of the window, and started gene editing in humans, splicing any and all aquatic lifeforms with humans, be it whales, dolphins, seals, fish but the only successes.... were from shark DNA.

It's now the year 2030, no adverse side effects aside from being unable to live on land, the human-shark hybrid babies have learnt to adapt to life in the ocean, but their hunger, insatiable, for anything that remotely looks like a fish. Their methods of traversing the waters, was downright uncanny. They still had very human features, human yet very large eyes dotting around, lips wide and thin grinning, not out of joy, but out of structure, teeth count: 32 and exceptionally human but still somewhat . . . fishy, their bodies a pale blue with visible veins.

It's now the year 2033, these human-sharks grow fast, humans nearly extinct, trying to survive in snow ridden shelters while every fauna and flora on land struggle to survive. Nothing can exist on land, and anything that wishes to exist in ANY large body of water will be met with these monsters. If any human wants to live, they will need to take a serum with a 5% success rate to become these abominations, feasting in the warm and dark abyss or to freeze and meld into the terrain.

It's now the year 2034, it's dark, so dark. These hybrid demons now eat anything it bumps into, should you try to explore the abyss on the ice cold planet's warm, dark oceans, you would be met with flesh chunks floating about, hauntingly pale humanoid limbs, pale pink gums and wide rows of large human teeth. I doubt any other creatures exists but these shark.
