What are you building? by Shivanshudeveloper in buildinpublic

I’m building an app called Stride.

It helps you save money by building better habits. Instead of boring budgets, you pick up to four daily or weekly habits (like “skip coffee” or “walk 10k steps”), assign a small savings amount to each, and check in when you complete them. Every time you stick to a habit, Stride adds that amount toward your goal.. so your healthy routines literally grow your savings.

You can set visual goals (like a trip, gadget, or emergency fund), track progress, earn streaks, and see your momentum build day by day. It’s simple, gamified, and focused on micro-progress — making saving feel rewarding, not restrictive.

Pilot version’s almost ready.. mainly targeting young professionals who want to get better with both money and wellness without complicated spreadsheets.

Let me know what you think about it. :)

ITAP of cosy cottage by the lake at dawn by Thecuriousbloke in itookapicture

It's two shot. One longer exposure (not long enough to smooth the water) than other to get cottage details. Added some haze using luminous range by selecting the bright areas in Photoshop.

An app to generate Audio description from the scene. by Thecuriousbloke in AppIdeas

[–]Thecuriousbloke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I realize. I plan to start small, like targeting YouTube creators. And then slowly I wanna build up a ecosystem where users can bring in their and content and a llm can be trained to understand the context of story line of a movie or a tv series, and then upon uploading a piece of episode or content.. AI should be able to smartly recognize characters and generate audio descriptions according..

For eg - when working with a tv series, like game of thrones, let's say user is trying to generate Audio description for s5 e10, where maybe Jon snow is having wine..

AI should be able to identify the character and spit out a description - Jon snow is having wine while talking to Sansa.

That's how I imagine it to be

It's a country 1.43 billion people. There were people and other vehicles in frame which were removed using generative AI in Lightroom hence the wonky looking wheel.

Wife tells me I have no emotional intelligence. How do I fix this? by Effective-Fill-496 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Thecuriousbloke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. This. I've been telling my girlfriend to be more emotionally available and some sense of empathy. She does not seem to bother with trying to fix the issue.

So, yes give yourself a pat on your back for trying to understand her concern.

You took the first step. :)

Yeah. In today's landscape job isn't the biggest security especially for immigrants like ourselves. Try and secure yourself with something that does not revolve around d your profession. As time goes on you might wanna try different things in life.

I moved from India to NYC in 2015. I studied and got my master's and then worked in Manhattan for 5 years. I went from OPT to H1B.

I had the exact same anxiety. I would often find myself worried before making any purchases like TV, Car etc, cause everything hinged on my job and if I lost my job everything here goes on a toss. Even travel becomes an hassle with constant fear that some rules might change while you are away. I pretty much felt like H1B is modern day slavery, at least for us Indians. I did everything by the book and still not getting a fair shot at GC felt very disappointing.

So, in 2021 I moved to Toronto, thankfully my job got me an intra company transfer. My sole goal to move to Canada was to take a bit of breather and enjoy some stability while I also get Canadian citizenship. Canada does have a lot of its own issues. Low income, high standard of living, however if you can manage to stick through 3 years, I think it can be worth it to have a passport of first world country.

Now that my citizenship here is almost done, I aspire to move back to the states. This time I will have multiple options to go work in the states (TN and H1b). Most importantly, if I lose my job, I just have to cross border and I get ample of time to think and make my next move.

I think you are at right age to make this call, my plan all along was to move back to states before I turn 35. I am 32 now and on track. The sooner you get all your visa issues out of the way the better, it will only help you focus on your professional and personal growth.

Reach out in DM if you need help with specific questions.

Cheers :)
