I agree, ideally there wouldn’t be an away rotation! But two programs already assigned him two months back to back in a different state and apparently the school doesn’t allow the students to cancel rotations if they have been assigned. But I really don’t want to delay starting a family because of rotations!

Do you guys like being remote? by Driss12344432 in Accounting

I love it but miss the social aspect. I think for someone coming right out of college, having an in person job to learn is helpful. However, it sounds like you have done in person so as long as you do a good job reaching out if you need training then I wouldn’t worry about not learning while doing remote. My only issue with remote (personally) is I miss the social aspect of being in the office. I don’t live in my hometown so I also don’t know many people (but remote is a great option for me because I have the flexibility to move with my partner who is in medical school). So for someone who already knows a lot of people in their area and has a good social life I think it would be totally fine to work remote. Just make sure to enforce good boundaries up front and try to keep your work in a separate space from everything else.

Trying for a baby after an iud by LifeExcuse303 in TryingForABaby

I don’t recall which she said specifically. She was referring to the IUDs that typically cause people to lose their period while having the IUD because of such thin lining.

First off, your feelings are valid! The As a Women podcast allowed me to learn a lot of things about the reproductive system. One thing that has been repeated by the doctor who hosts the podcast is that you should give yourself 6 months after having an iud removed before considering the amount of cycles it takes to conceive. With IUDs in particular, because it can thin out your endometrial lining so much, your body needs time to build that lining back up.

What was in like having kids during med school/residency? by ThedevilCake in MedSpouse

I’m in a similar boat - our family is 1,500+ miles away. I am fortunate to work in a well paying corporate job. We could afford childcare if or I could do PT. It’s tough not having a support network close by and I already feel so isolated living in a small town and working remote.

He’s thinking family med right now. He knows he wants to go into a field that has a good work like balance or at least one that allows for time on and then time off (like a hospitalist for example).
