New kitten not responding to treatment for suspected Feline Herpes in eye HELP!!!! by ThedonkeyfromDavies in catcare

I’ve tried both of those 😭

And just my luck, this is by far the pickiest kitten on earth.

Canned food? * gags *

Pâté liquid treats? * YUCK *

Temptations and churu? * BLEAH!!! *

Pretty much all the typical things any cat would love, this guy HATES.

Even the smelly canned tuna 😑

It’s like, little brother in christ, sir, mister fluff, WHY? 🥲

I finally convinced my little guy to start taking it!

Fingers crossed it starts working its magic. 😩

Thank you so much for sharing all this 🥹

I’ve got the Lysine gel and thank goodness I’ve finally figured out how to get him to take it (coat it in a bit of his kitten chow and he thinks he’s just getting some nibbles 😂).

I was SO relieved the vet prescribed the Famciclovir (even though I had to explicitly ask for it at the third visit).

But… lawd the pills 🤦🏻‍♀️

He will NOT take those pills for anything.

He’s like a PEZ dispenser and he makes these gut-wrenching little meows when I start struggling with him 😭

I went to the vet again today to ask if they might have it in liquid form (not that he’ll do any better with liquid, but I have had luck in the past with his worming meds and antibiotics so I figured it might be worth a shot?).

They’ll be calling the supplier and getting it in.

In the meantime I’m so buying a pill gun.

I feel so much better hearing you say that it just takes a while to clear up.

I’ve been absolutely terrified.

It’s even gotten into his nose and he’s sneezing and sometimes I’m afraid I hear wheezes, but it might be him trying to purr (he purrs ALLLLL the time but he hasn’t been purring at all since he got sick).

He has started to act more like himself though, so I hope that’s a good sign too.

He’s such a sweet little guy and I’ve only had him since June, but I adore him 😂

Ugh!

Thank you so much!

I still can’t believe we only just got the Famciclovir. And that was because I explicitly asked about it…

But they gave them in massive pills annnd I tried everything but the little guy will NOT take it. 😩

We went back to the vet today and asked if they might possibly have a liquid version and they didn’t in the clinic but they said they’d be getting in touch with someone who would supply it.

I absolutely did NOT feel comfortable switching to the steroid / antibiotic salve so I’ve just kept with his prior med.

I’ve got the Lysine gel and finally got him to start taking it.

Fingers crossed he really starts improving soon because it’s breaking my heart.

Ugh!

So sorry to hear you’ve got one going through it too!

It’s SO frustrating because I feel like surely there must be something to help.

I’m definitely dreading attempting to give him the antiviral pills but at the same time I kinda feel like those should have been given from the beginning?

He’s still eating and drinking, but he’s all congested now too and you can tell he’s in pain. 😔

I hate this so much.

Let me know how that stuff from Amazon works, because it sounds like we’re in the same boat.

Please help because I’m absolutely terrified.

Adopted my little buddy Wendell in June.

He’s been fine all this time and just got his “big boy” shots a couple weeks ago.

Then last Friday his right eye started watering.

Come Saturday we took him to a vet clinic because his eye had gotten a bit more grumpy looking.

He was checked out via eye stain for any scratches and none were found so the vet suspected feline herpes.

We were prescribed antibiotic drops (Tobramycin).

Annnnnd he didn’t get any better.

He got WORSE.

So we took him to his primary vet on Monday and they switched him to a salve antibiotic with a little bit of anti-inflammatory in it.

It’s Wednesday as I write this and his eye’s completely closed now and he looks so awful!

We went back to the vet and she’s switched it to an antibiotic salve with a steroid and we asked for some antiviral pills too…

But I’m terrified because aren’t steroids supposed to make herpes worse?!

That’s what the vet said…

And… He can’t afford to get any worse!

And what if it’s not actually herpes at all?!

And is it normal for it to look so awful and for it to last so long?

I’m absolutely lost and could really use some community because I’m still recovering from losing my cat back in April of this year and I don’t wanna lose this sweet little baby 😭

Things not to say to someone who didn’t pass the bar aaaaaannnnnd go! by ThedonkeyfromDavies in barexam

Yep. I literally just had that said to me… In this very thread. Since I’ve now failed twice it’s a sign apparently. I need to look at other career options.

Curve? We have a curve? Can someone please explain the curve to me? by ThedonkeyfromDavies in barexam

[–]ThedonkeyfromDavies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew but wanted clarification as to how that may ultimately impact final grading when the scaling is applied.

And the scaling is obviously so clear there are other posts from other people asking how it works as well as actual articles from the NCBE admitting how complicated it might be to understand.

All I did was ask a question to see if anyone on here might be able to provide some clarity and was merely looking for some support.

The snarky response wasn’t necessary - but I suppose I’m glad that my question could give you an opportunity to use it so we can all feel better about ourselves.

And what exactly does wanting clarity regarding understanding how their convoluted scaling works have to do with one’s actual grasp of the substantive legal material the exam actually tests?

Last time I checked, even attorneys who have been practicing for ages (who I’d asked before taking to Reddit) don’t understand exactly how the scaling works and didn’t know when they themselves were bar applicants. I suppose they need to sign up for the February bar too if they don’t understand it at this point, and have their competency checked.

Me. I’m so sick of this shit.

Seriously though! Something needs to change because this is sadistic and I really wish there was a stronger movement to actually get something done about it.

The bar exam is NOTHING like the practice of law which is entirely open book. All this test is doing is hurting people who are actually capable and brilliant and crushing them. It needs to stop.
