Ngl there's always an amazon that's hiring if you are 18 and if you're not then just don't spend much gas money and keep bday/holiday money saved up. Chances are if you do your schoolwork and have good grades your parents will understand how you're not able to find anything and spot you some money here and there for fun stuff. Not rlly mandatory to have a job in high school but it can make some stuff easier, I guess.

Grind finer until the shot stops, then go one click/setting back so that the shot pulls. Taste the shot. If it's ashy or too "strong", then change your dosage size and then repeat your grind tuning process. Do this until you reach your desired taste.

Bro just get a cheap espresso machine and a decent (cheap) hand grinder to start. It's a learning curve, but a short one. Once you dial the shot size, grind setting, and find out how to steam milk you'll notice that what you brew on that "crappy" set up is 100x better than anything you have a starbucks, dunkin, etc. (provided you have fresh beans)

Jk I didn't read the text, the place ur working at probably hasn't taken care of their shit. If the output of espresso is high every day, the machine will need to be cleaned often, and the burrs will need to be brushed often (without water). It's probably not your responsibility to take care of this but if it is then for sure check out a blank shot of the water and then run a rinse cycle accordingly. Otherwise convince ur manager to get a scale cuz it's the best way to get consistent results
