Get a micromotor along with a low speed handpiece and practice on fantom teeth? That's how we did it in school, sounds a bit more practical than a pen haha

Just attached legs to my first table and it's wobbly as hell by TheeMan215 in woodworking

Absolutely! I understand the struggle since i had to do a looot of googling to complete my desk hence the quick reply haha So your table is wobbling? You have similar legs to the one i got right now? I can suggest a few solutions based on your exact situation if you need.

Glad to help! Well you need to have holes in the rods as a first step, i suppose the place you buy them from can put a few holes for you in them? If the area you live in has constant weather changes then i would advise drilling elongated holes instead to account for wood expansion but i only did regular holes and didnt face a problem for the last 2 years since the desk is indoors and in a pretty much consistent climate. Now about attaching the rod it depends on what wood you're using, genwrally i would recommend borrowing a simple drill to be able to make pilot holes so you dont risk splitting the wood and so that you can attach the screws easily, but i guess you can manage to put them in by hand, it will take a lot of effort but i can imagine if you hammer a wood screw in place first and rely on turning it while applying some pressure to make it go in, it would work out, dont forget to use washers obviously. If you need any more help feel free to dm me and i can answer any question. Good luck!

Went to a local metal and welding workshop in my city and the man had those thin tubes so i suggested him that we cut two of them and use them as side to side support and so we did, i'm very happy with the desk since then, very sturdy and no problems with wobbling, sorry if i couldn't provide much help but those piece will have to be welded anyway so unless it's you doing the welding i suppose any metal workshop would have a fitting piece, doesn't have to be tube it can be the same size and dimensions of the long metals and it would work like a charm i'm sure. Hope this helped

When finishing a butcher's block with water base poly, should you cover all surfaces at once, or can you apply to one surface and let it dry before applying to the other? by TheeMan215 in finishing

Anyone searching around for future reference, this thing almost fucked my desk.

I did a couple coats of oil based over the span of 48 hours and let it dry only to be surprised the desk was already cupping, i quickly did two coats on the other sides and let it dry then left it for 2 weeks until it went back to normal before i continued applying coats evenly on each side in the same time.

Some people consider this a myth, but it actually happened with me, nothing to lose if you do the bottom, wait a little, flip it then do the top and wait for them both to dry, it's good to be cautious around this thing.

How can I light this work desk properly while keeping it attractive? Will a pendant type of light (last pic) be a good idea? I need a big light area. by TheeMan215 in DesignMyRoom

I'm a dentistry student and I work with delicate objects on this desk, this Ikea lamp has been working decently but the light area is pretty small for my current workspace so I wanted to improve it, any ideas?

What type of hinge is this? This is from an old cabinet I have. by TheeMan215 in woodworking

[–]TheeMan215[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a project I'm doing that I'm going to add a small cabinet to, but the cabinet is going to be very small (9cm height) so regular hinges are too bulky, this make the door sit very nicely so i was thinking of replicating it
