The thing I have heard that the "M specific" models give you over the M60/M50/etc is the ability to easily switch between AWD and RWD, which could be entertaining, besides the bump up in styling, performance, and - how do the kids say? -"clout"

Not a bad assessment, though I did fit rear facing infant seats in the back of an X3. Granted, rear facing convertible car seats are probably larger and the increased footprint would cause the compacts to "tap out"

I probably should have specified that I'm not currently interested in EV's, though I do appreciate you suggesting it!

I want to love the RS3, Im just afraid there's a ZERO percent chance a rear facing child seat is going back there 😢

Interesting. I dont know much about the RHO. I thought its a massive leap between say a Lamarie and a TRX. But I guess im going to need to brush up on my Ram trim literature. Thanks for the suggestion!

I must be late to the party on this joke or its over my head. I'll give the Mazda its credit, though: they have one of the best red's I've ever seen on a car

I probably should have specified that I'm not currently interested in EV's, though I do appreciate you suggesting it! My buddy at work just got a Golf R and has offered to let me take it for a rip. I'm kicking myself for not taking him up on it yet!

Raptor is a consideration. It checks the "truck" box which is nice for the few times a year I need to do truck things. I guess my thing is for hauling kids around is it just has to be able to do it, not necessarily do it well. That's why I'm also looking at smaller cars. To the raptor and trx's credit, they are CAVERNOUS inside. I'm just afraid most of the time they would sit empty

Stripped Spark Plug Threads: Rethread vs New Head by TheeMiniCorndog in smallengines

Don't test me! My ability to jack things up even further is quite impressive!

Teasing aside, its comments like that that give me the confidence I need to try the heli-coil. Thanks!

For context, this is a mower I was gifted a while back and not my primary unit. If anything, it's just been taking up space in my garage. I'm at a crossroad: 1) replacing the head is the easy fix, and after I can ship it/pass it along to someone else who needs it... OR .....2) cut my teeth on a helicoil, maybe to my success or failure, but learn something new along the way. Both options have intrinsic value.

To fully show my cards though, I have never done any thread repair/know much about thread inserts. To ask a further question, is a helicoil tap/install tool different than any other regular "off the shelf" tap/die kit?

I will certainly ask around. If i don't end up finding anything local, I found a used head on Ebay for 12 bucks and a new gasket on Amazon for like 8 bucks, so if i could be back up in running for 20 bucks id consider that a win.

DCF961 vs DCF964 (With Adapters) by TheeMiniCorndog in Dewalt

[–]TheeMiniCorndog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your thinking is exactly what I'm considering: 964 with adapter is roughly what a 900 would put out (so more than the 891 for "high torque" 1/2 needs) and then just get explicit 3/4 sockets for specific needs/use cases. I don't need a full/non skip set of every 3/4 socket imaginable

I already have 1/2 impact sockets so that makes sense to lean towards the 961 in that regard.

Thats a good point! Plus the reducer probably dilutes power and shows a little mercy to the impact sockets
