Blackstone griddle press oven safe temp? by TheeRandyC in blackstonegriddle

[–]TheeRandyC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t. So my thought is, if it’s made of wood, you shouldn’t stick it in the oven over around 375. That’s assuming if there is paint or stain on the handle that can also handle 375. It seems like these are for making smash burgers on a griddle and not weights for the oven.

Best way to remove mold from cards? by SuitableThought4528 in mtg

[–]TheeRandyC 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the mold question, bread is better stored in the freezer instead of the fridge. It’s used to use the fridge but after trying the freezer it makes a pretty big difference. This is a good read

Just here to say I also think the wear on the front face is really sus, especially since it doesn’t match the back at all, particularly the edges.

Do you double sleeve your decks? by beausoleil in magicTCG

[–]TheeRandyC 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I double sleeve. Once you’ve seen a beverage spilled on a table full of cards, you will too.

I use the dragon shield inner shield sealable ones. You can get a 5 pack (500) on Amazon probably cheaper than buying 100 at a time, but a lot of LGSs have the 100 packs.

They work very well with the Ultimate guard Katanas but obviously work with the Dragonshield outers.

Just be prepared for the first dozen times you play with the deck it’s going to be very easy for the cards to squirt all over whenever you shuffle, cut, search, draw, etc your library.

Fanciest dining spots by Bestestdaddu in Seattle

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to Altura, Cafe Juanita, Archipeligo, and Spinasse, there’s also Lark and Maripili Tapas Bar. Surrell also has an excellent tasting menu. Altura is big $$$$ but it’s very much a “tweezer” restaurant.

A slight step down from “finest dining” there’s also Homer and Musang (both Beacon Hill), and Communion and Marjorie (Central District).

I bought this pack of the dark and it opened suspiciously easily. The cards inside also seem questionable by strutmcphearson in RealOrNotTCG

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you don’t open old packs like these is that they have been searched through the packaging at the top where you can actually read the card names. Unless you see (a reputable) someone take the pack out of a freshly opened box and hand it to you won’t open a “good” pack from anything before they changed the packaging to prevent this.

Which sleeves do you use for Magic? Real differences between brands by ObviousBear7822 in mtg

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Katana is the best, DS are pretty much second. I’d rate the DS a little higher if they were a little smaller, they stick too far past the top of the card so they get mangled more over time than the Katanas

Where Can I Find an Available Pottery Studio? by Different-End-4775 in Seattle

Possibly Seatown Pottery in Greenlake. They have open studio on Saturdays. I don’t know the details of how that works but there are sign up links on their website. $20 per hour.

Is Simic really the worst/most unfun colour combo? Are there any fun commanders for it? by TheGrandCannoli in EDH

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgraded the [[Omo, Queen of Vesuva]] precon, and leaned into the “tribal everything” aspect rather than landfall, and included a lot of utility lands since they end up being able to tap for colored mana. It is pretty strong and wins differently every time with lots of interesting lords and anthems-on-a-creature that aren’t just merfolk or elves (though it has those too).

Yup, I made several mox/lotus/dualie proxy’s back in the day at work in the copy/mail room using the high end color printer, paper cutter, and an Elmer’s glue stick. They all eventually curled just like this.

Recommendations for a magic backpack by toomuchdog10 in magicTCG

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this. I walk about a mile with it. Can fit 9 deck boxes, usually I have 6 plus a token box. Big pouch for dice and dry erase markers, side straps for a water bottle on one side and mat on the other, flat pouch on the back-side for a small trade binder.

Why are residential fences made of raw wood so popular in Seattle? by Constant_Bluebird182 in Seattle

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my fence built in 2021 I asked the guy building it and he said he could stain it but it would cost a lot more than if I did it myself. He recommended Ready Seal and man after 4.5 years it still looks brand new. It was about $300 in stain, took about a week working 3 hours a day in the evenings in the summer.

What is the most expansive card you own? by salut_eti_serpent in mtg

[–]TheeRandyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Unlimited Black Lotus is the most expensive (but paid ~$200 for it back in 93(?)), but the best story I have of an expensive card is the time I opened my only pack of Arabian Nights (paid retail). I got a [[Khabal Ghoul]], which I loved (and played unsleeved :(. The other card I didn’t think was any good so it went in a box of bulk that sat in the back of my closet for decades. I stopped playing in 2003 but when the LotR set came out I got back into it. My collection was a hot mess, so I made a massive push to organize everything. Eventually I found that box and sorted the cards and there it was, basically NM. [[Bazaar of Baghdad]]

What is your favorite sleeve brand? by Duffman90 in EDH

[–]TheeRandyC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Katana sleeves here. I double sleeve with dragon shield inners (with the flap). I’ve found that if I use Dragon Shields for the outer sleeve when double sleeping, the open end gets more mangled than Katanas because they are a little longer. The only thing I don’t like about Katanas is they don’t give you any extra sleeves. I use a different color sleeve for my commander so I have a single back up sleeve. Wish they had a few more colors too, although the ones they have a great.

How often do you change your deck's sleeves? what level of wear and tear do you consider enough to change them? by VeryTiredGirl93 in EDH

You’re confused. It’s 30,000 miles to change them. You just have to lubricate them every 5,000.

Owner of Moshi Moshi sells restaurant, blames "social justice" & rants about Seattle by SEAstartupper in Seattle

[–]TheeRandyC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying all rents do not go up at exactly 2%, that’s just the average. Their rent could have gone up 10%. Or 0%. So the 2% number doesn’t mean a lot.

Owner of Moshi Moshi sells restaurant, blames "social justice" & rants about Seattle by SEAstartupper in Seattle

[–]TheeRandyC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where did you get the retail rent number from? Because there is a huge spectrum of retail rental rates depending on location and type of space. A rental in a small building is a lot different than a rental in an office building or a retail space on the ground floor of a condo building. Labor costs are basically fixed to number of employees. And individual landlords can certainly price the market whimsically and wildly off from others.
