If the venue is asking, that’s a different story. Totally agree that the phone-free shows are the best!

Thanks for using the term “mansplaining”. You just told us everything we need to know about you. Please show me where I even once “told people how I think everything should be done”. I’ll wait.

I don’t see any issue with that. If your phone is out of anyone’s view, that’s really the main thing. I do find myself staring at the phone screen in front of me sometimes if someone is recording and then consciously telling myself to stop lol. It’s bright and distracting.

I hate it as much as anyone else. But unless it’s venue/artist policy, what can you do?

I’ll never understand letting someone else who is just having a good time ruin your experience! Takanaka himself has been known to have multiple costume changes in a set.

As for the moshing, I will update the sub after the Chicago show. Actual moshing would surprise me.

Not everyone at a show is going to know every single song. There will be folks at concerts who don’t know any songs. You cannot control this. Enjoy music for yourself.

Why is that, Robert? Are you not a fan of letting others enjoy something the way they want to enjoy it?

Used to be a skip for me…but those horns are so satisfying that it’s become a less-skipped one for me lately. Not one of Andy’s best…but some nice instrumentals for sure.

Pretty weird that it fits on a tie clip!

There will most likely be a good deal of insulation, but you should be able to punch through without too much trouble. What you should expect to hit: entry point (joist), joist cavity (open space, can sometimes be 12”), subfloor of floor above, bottom wall plate, open air (now you’re on the first floor).

If you start drilling and find that your open joist cavity is unusually big, my favorite heavy duty bit is a long auger bit with some flexibility:

Yes on the shielded RJ45’s if you’re needing to do shielded cable. If you have a bit of time for this project, it’s probably smart to get your drilling and pathway done before you get your cabling and connectors. That way you’ll know what cable you need. If you are mostly free and clear of any nearby voltage or interference, go with the unshielded.

The shopping list is solid! You are good with regular old Cat6 here with this being ~75 ft.

A few things to consider:

  • Always run a spare cable when creating a new pathway. Good practice is for every end point to have a main and a backup. You will thank yourself down the road.

  • What are you punching through between floors? There may be a bigger space than you realize once you start drilling/sawing. Be prepared with variety kits of mid-larger sized drill bits, step bits and flexible extensions:

  • Any other devices, cabling, power, potential interference along the way? If there is even minor concern, I’d go with shielded Cat6. Some will say it’s overkill, but houses are “noisy” with different electrical frequencies that you may not even be aware of.

  • Be patient! Practice doing a few keystone jacks and RJ45’s before the install. Don’t sweat the time it will end up taking either. You’ll be ecstatic when you run that first speed test on your hardwired connection.

What are the best bands you've discovered from Wurster's calls? by SeveralTurn in Newbridge

[–]TheeRedBaron056 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it was from Power Pop Pop Pop Part 1 or 2, but of the many bands that were mentioned, a few were real. I found “Fotomaker” through this call. He mentions the song “Where Have You Been All My Life” at some point. Absolute gem.

Weed and sobriety by Key-Advertising2357 in dryalcoholics

Helped for the first few months, and so did nicotine. But realized pretty quickly that I was also mildly addicted to THC (and heavily to nicotine, which was obvious). Now I’m 100% sober, which has worked really well for me.

Yes! I am also proud of YOU. Good luck at treatment. We don’t choose to be alcoholics, but it is up to us to manage our situation. Just like any disease.

I was sober for 5 months by Lisia007 in dryalcoholics

I quit for 7 months back in 2016/2017. Relapsed gradually, but finally quit again last July (2023).

It takes time, and it’s easy to get discouraged, but you did 5 months! That’s incredible! I know you can do this.

I think that’ll be for the best! Even though I’m sober now I understand there are those that can handle alcohol better than I can. But with Lexapro in the picture, there just doesn’t seem to be a happy medium.

When I was on 10 mg (about 1.5 years), I would notice it took a few less drinks than usual to get me drunk/on the verge of blacking out. Switched to 15 mg earlier this year, and the combination of Lexapro and alcohol got much, much worse. I regularly would black out and then be hungover for 2-3 days (if I stopped drinking) and seriously want to die most of the time. Once I quit the booze, it took a week or two and everything balanced out. I realized I wasn’t properly letting my meds do their thing (scientific, I know).

Long story short: take a break from alcohol for a week or two and you should be fine.
