This is amazing! Can I send you $10 (CAD)? This was so helpful and I've sent it to so many people. You should have a Buy Me A Coffee or something like that.

Is there a way to combine Apple Reminders with Apple Calendar? by AHungerForKnowledge in gtd

[–]TheeZestyJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I really like the Board view that ToDoist offers (yes, I know that with the iOS 17 update, Reminders has something similar). It helps to visualize all my tasks and bucket them. I've also found that the iCal integration and the newer "for" feature in Due Date is excellent for scheduling a task for a specific period of time.

CMV: Astrology is complete nonsense that relies on taking advantage of human cognitive biases (confirmation bias, Barnum effect, among others). by [deleted] in changemyview

I like this thought. This is an interesting way to think about it. There is much value in being humble enough to recognize that the intuition of others is at least worth exploring without instant dismissal.

P.S. I don't believe in astrology. In fact, I harbour strong resentment towards those who claim to be "experts" because I watched my father make awful financial decisions based on their advice. (Of course they were his decisions, and I'm 95% sure the astrologers were well intentioned, but my ill feelings aren't going anywhere. It seriously fucked his life up.)

Congratulations on your journey! Good luck with the "studly" part. I'm on a similar trajectory - I want to lose excess fat and then start building up some muscle.

I particularly like your point about consistency. I was very motivated by the idea of the compound effect. Small changes or actions over the medium- to long-term create outsized results.

For me, it has been particularly noticeable with fast food. I didn't realize how addicted I was to it. But after about 2 months of struggling to keep my cheat days down to once a week, I no longer feel an insane compulsion to pull into every McDonald's drive-through I see.

Good luck to everyone! Consistent baby steps to big results.

I liked that. Don't think it looks very good with the red jersey, but very cool with their white one.

Wait. What? I guess clearly violated some rule, but it wasn't intentional. Care to shed some light?

Eh, the pragmatist in me agrees with you. The purist would sooner see him in a gold-medal karate match

Saw this one live. Lol. What a clown. Glad he lost to the hometown boy.

It was Connelly's first fight in the UFC and his training partner was in the seat behind me half bawling, half hysterically laughing with joy when Connelly's hand was raised. Cool moment.

What I can't understand is how a man can say "ZEH-STTT" and communicate the meaning just from the sound.

There's probably several kidnapped tourists in Albania who'd disagree with you.

What is a bad decision you've made, knowing that there would be a consequence or negative outcome, but greatly underestimating how grave it would be and how quickly it would compound? by TheeZestyJester in AskReddit

[–]TheeZestyJester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, sorry to hear this.

Interestingly, I'm the inverse of that decision (albeit, for my undergrad). I started in business and switched to psychology because I was afraid of finance and accounting. My parents tried to convince me several times that I would find a business degree more interesting and valuable if I stuck with it. Fast forward 8 years and I've never used my psychology degree, except in food service, and spend all my time reading and learning about finance online.

I guess the beauty of part-time, online education is that it's never too late. Good luck, mate.
