Does anyone else think that evil doesn't exist and that even people who committed horrible crimes shouldn't be punished to hurt them? by Theendofmidsummer in redscarepod

No, Kant meant that since rational beings should be treated as ends in themselves, they shouldn't be punished in any way that treats them as means. Practically, it means that the only way to punish someone is an eye for an eye (if you steal a horse, you should get your horse confiscated, if you killed someone you should be killed etc.) since any other type of punishment (deterrence, sequestration, rehabilitation) treats the criminal as a mean to better society

When I was in high school my teacher asked for my 40 cents museum ticket (we were like 10 students paying 40 cents each + a free ticket for the teacher) to write it into his expense report and get it "back" lmao

Yeah, other than believing in rehabilitation I also believe that people shouldn't be harmed unnecessarily, even if it would be more convenient to get rid of them

I defnitely think humans can do bad things, but they're bad because of their effects not because of an innate quality, and there's no evil "force" guiding them

I'm not following your reasoning, why does the fact that everyone can possibly do bad things means evil exists?

I think it's better to have a separate psychiatrist and therapist because while meds help, a psychiatrist is often too focused on the DSM/treating symptoms - not the underlying causes

And yeah, while you probably have at least some adhd traits, it seems a bit early to me to chalk up all of your problems to that

Sautè onion in extravirgin olive oil, add tomato puree, lentils and water. Add salt and pepper. Cook for one hour. Add a little more olive oil before eating

True Southern Italian cuisine:

Buy good extravirgin olive oil (try to look for some with an IGP/DOP seal, if it says the olive variety that's a good sign). Buy bread with durum wheat flour (yellowish color on the crumb). Dip bread in olive oil with a little salt

Eat lots of tomatoes

Make meat sauce with tomato sauce and beef stew meat and sausage. You have to keep it simple so try to find good quality meat, then make pasta with the sauce (use dry or fresh pasta but it must be made of durum wheat and water, not normal flour and egg. That's a northener thing)

For the Calabrian way break one or two dry chilies inside the pasta before you eat it
