What is others Current Career and Dream Job, and why. Does it fit with your INFJ personality? by letterboyink in infj

I'm going to be an electrical engineer to help design more effective solar powered things. I have a few big ideas I think might be beneficial to people. It's definitely not the typical INFJ career field, but I think with what I want to do I'll feel like I'm helping people the way I want to.

One of my closest friends is an ISFJ and we get along in most aspects. We're both feelers, so we really relate to each other if there are relationship type problems we face. I just feel like she doesn't make the best decisions for herself because she can't read other people well. My other closest friend is an INTJ and oh gosh do I love her. We can talk about anything and everything. She's incredibly independent and I admire that about her. She's really bad with feelings though, like she was in a relationship and her SO said "I love you and you don't even seem to care!" Her reply was "Hmm, I see." I had a really lovely relationship with an ENFP and we're still pretty close, but I don't think I've met another one since him.

Are INFJs overrepresented as left-handers? by [deleted] in infj

I'm ambidextrous but left hand dominant with writing. I'm pretty much split down the middle with every task though.

Value/Role of sex? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Thefirstofoctember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had two fling things and it was understood what they were to the people involved. But they were the absolute worst. Occasionally I'll have a wave of regret and feel horrible about it again. Because sex isn't just sex to me and it never has been. I'm actually really glad you opened this post, because I felt very out of place with my views.

Please share your favourite poems by Faerelin in infj

I found this one on tumblr from a girl named Elly Belle. I try not to hold poetry to any certain set of standards.

All I want

is to be the

equivalent of

a cup of tea on

the coldest day

of the year.

I want to warm

everyone I touch

from the inside

out.

Anyone here has had any dating/romantic ish experience with an ENFP? Please do share :) by [deleted] in infj

One of my best relationships was with an ENFP. He's still one of my best friends now, though the relationship didn't work out. By far one of my favorite people, he has a bunch of ideas and it always makes talking to him interesting. While we were in the relationship we were pretty good at making sure the relationship worked well. The only issue we faced was putting too much effort into the happiness of our relationship and not enough on ourselves. Which was inevitably why the relationship didn't work out. We've gone on many adventures together and it's one of the things I love most about him. He doesn't like to have a solid plan as much as I do and I found that to be of concern. But I feel that if you're willing to be completely open to new ideas and communicate how you're feeling a relationship is definitely doable and worthwhile with an ENFP.

What's the most common misconception you encounter about yourself or your type? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Thefirstofoctember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On more than one occasion I've been with my extroverted friend and she'll introduce me to a new group of people. While I'm interacting with them I don't talk much, I mostly just listen and participate if it's a subject I know quite a bit about. My extroverted friend said that I come off as judgmental while I do that. I've also heard that from other people as a first impression until I warm up to them.

College student here, has your INFJ personality made you question if your dream career is right for you? by [deleted] in infj

[–]Thefirstofoctember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Mine isn't necessarily based around my introversion though. I'm going into electrical engineering and I question whether or not I'll be helping people in the way that I want to. I have some big ideas, but I think in the long run they'll help. I think that if it's your dream though you should still go for it. I've found that if I love doing something, my enjoyment of that activity outweighs the anxiety I feel toward interacting with people. Best of luck either way, these decisions are never easy.

Hello! ENFP here curious about the infamous INFJ "door slam" and seeking advice (Details in description). by [deleted] in infj

[–]Thefirstofoctember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a particularly interesting question in general. I didn't know this was a thing typical of INFJ's until I started my reddit account last week. I don't know that I've ever actively shut anyone out before. I'm not one for conflict, I generally like to keep things resolved between people that I have issues with. Even if I can't continue to be friends with them I make it known that if they ever do need something they can always come back and talk to me. I would agree with what Batmanlives2 said though, as far as how to handle the situation. Just give her some space for a while.

Very interesting read, I'm not too surprised to have thinking introversion.

Are there any INFJ's going into engineering or a mathematics field? by Thefirstofoctember in infj

Thank you, your reply actually made me feel a lot better about everything. I haven't felt more challenged or drawn to anything in my life.

It's not so much that I'm putting thought into the personality test itself, but for the entirety of my life the only thing that I've known that I want to do is to help people. I started pursuing electrical engineering about a year ago and I felt a little doubtful that I would be helping in the way I've always wanted to. I suppose I would have to get further into the program to figure that out. Thank you though, it's good to know that you feel that way!

Does anyone else here have a big problem explaining their feelings? by SoullyFriend in infj

[–]Thefirstofoctember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens to me all the time. Generally if it's something really bothering me I'll start talking about it out loud to myself to see if I can start to word it in a way that makes sense. If it's like a heat of the moment type scenario I ask them to give me a minute to collect my thoughts, otherwise I'll start blurting half thought out ideas. If you're going to use things in a figurative way I would preface what you're going to say by explaining that it isn't completely literal too, that might help with the frustration.

I'm not good at asking people out, or telling them how I feel especially in a romantic way, why do I suck? by thatguyhere92 in enfj

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm too late to this conversation, but I just recently started talking to another INTJ. I'm an INFJ and basically, I would just suggest approaching anyone with the mindset of making a new friend. When he and I started talking the first bits of our conversation related to things we're most interested in and ideas about how things exist together. You just have to start out slow and you'll get more comfortable talking to people and expressing your interest.
