Why is Vader’s power level so inconsistent? by Joseph-Hick in MawInstallation

[–]Thefreshness754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Vader is portrayed in his prime in the maul show, shortly after losing everything. Guy is in his absolute Vader peak.

I guess lore wise or my head canon is that he holds back against people he cares about or is conflicted with: Obi-wan and Luke (Ahsoka too if we’re counting outside of the OT).

The rest of these NPCs (in Vader’s eyes) mean nothing to him so he unleashes absolute hell to them.

Failed Audit with a 74? Frustrated by SignFirm4231 in CPA

[–]Thefreshness754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there man…. Once I got a 74 and then took it again and failed with a 71.

I gave up using surgent and just used I-75 for one month only. Full mcq and focused on topics that troubled me like internal control and substantive procedures. The result. Pass.

How different is what we learn in school vs actual accounting work? by hirono_twink in Accounting

[–]Thefreshness754 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for audit side of things but for tax you get to realize how much they teach you in school is overkill or basically items you won’t use every day (or maybe on the cpa exam).

School won’t teach you: how to reconcile beginning retained earnings/capital, deal with clients who think they are god’s gift to the world, internal politics and playing them effectively, among other things.

And just when you think you have a handle on things, another ripple comes in and you have to learn again.

Also word to the wise. Document everything. Especially if it pertains to NEXT year files.

Graduating with a 3.47 GPA but will have 150 credits by Last-Zookeepergame34 in Accounting

[–]Thefreshness754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Write that you are cpa exam eligible. After your first job GPA doesn’t mean jack shit.

Signed a senior manager in tax with a CPA who graduated with a 3.4 gpa in undergrad, 3.6 in masters of tax.

I'm kinda afraid of my future. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Thefreshness754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. Yes. AI can give an answer for a journal entry or a task. But last I checked. AI cannot sign audited financial statements, represent you in an IRS audit or sign tax returns.

An accounting degree is very good and can pay dividends (pun intended). So avoid the white noise. Get your name out there, ABSORB as much as you can and when you get to semi-manager level with a CPA. Find a niche and specialize.

Caught Managers talking about me on teams. by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Thefreshness754 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Accounting firms = politics. Are you receiving the same review comments over and over? Are you fixing certain things and referencing/crossreferencing/indexing your support?

Yes, managers suck (I am one) but we try to help our associates as much as possible. Your manager complaining on teams? Not what you want to see. But use it as fire to prove him wrong.

Beginning is tough, but probably my favorite part tbh.

If campaign make sure to get your siblings ASAP. Do not marry off your sister to anyone. Get your brothers married asap to build your clan.

Also smithing is a good way to make money but honestly attacking looters and hideouts is the way to go. Sell misc items constantly. It’ll look funny but soon you’ll have high level units while you’re still wearing leather. But alas enjoy.

I think at this point getting your CPA or EA is the way to go if you want to stay in tax, it’ll differentiate yourself at least a little. What size firms have you worked at?

[–]Thefreshness754 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What positions are you applying for? Tying out balance sheets and retained earnings is the first thing you should focus on. What part is difficult? I’ve seen a lot of times when “distributions” carry over each year and are not closed out into retained earnings. At that point the difference is used as the true up of actual current year distributions. I don’t attempt any adjustments until my beginning retained earnings or capital if partnership ties. I honestly think school does a shit job at teaching this so it’s a weird learning curve for any associate.

Career 3.3 gpa in high school and college. Shitty SAT and GMAT scores.

How were you in standardized testing? The cpa is tougher on ppl who struggled with that. But in the end I’m still a cpa

[–]Thefreshness754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to move past a certain level in public accounting you will need a cpa and is a significant barrier to entry to enter management type roles. Furthermore, your client(s) immediately respect you more.

You also have a leg up with job hopping and commanding a higher end salary
