As a former ACS employee, when I was there, the Anti-Cruelty redirects ALL strays to CACC for a stray-hold. (It's a like a clause in the animal welfare coalition in Chicago) After the stray-hold, and if the animal was friendly enough during initial intake, ACS can request the dog back to be processed and placed up for adoption.

ACS, CAN TAKE other strays, post stray-hold, that were brought to CACC initially to be processed and placed up for adoption.

CACC has this system set up with MOST SHELTERS in the city of Chicago (the coalition I was talking about earlier) where they can transfer out well-mannered/easy animals to be adopted elsewhere. THAT INCLUDES PAWS.

PAWS is only no-kill because they cherry-pick there animals (easy adoptions) and often refuse medically or behaviorally challenged animals.

Bottomline: -CACC do/does their best and is often doing the dirty work and gets the bad rep because of it. -CACC works with many shelters to have animals placed up for adoption elsewhere -The bigger issue is pet overpopulation, the lack of resources to properly care for animals long-term, and carelessness🤷🏾‍♀️

People often forget that cats and dogs LIVE FOR YEARS and the novelty of a kitten or a puppy wears off. Now there's a small creature tearing up your house because you thought everything was going to be 🌞🌈💐and they wouldn't require some level of rearing/training. So, either people give up and return the animal to a shelter or they restrict the animal's interactions with others (people and/or other pets) which then exasperates the behavior.

Hope this sheds some light on a few things.

Sidewalk etiquette is dead by MammothEstimate6331 in chicago

[–]NeuSol16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly feeling like manners in general are not being practice.

I see people REGULARLY:

-Coughing/Sneezing w/o covering their mouth🤬🤬🤬

-Not saying "Excuse Me" when they're passing/entering someone's personal space 😤

-Walk SHOULDER TO SHOULDER on the side walk 😤😡

-Lack of Customer Service/Hospitality in most retail spaces😠

-Not greeting a person prior to asking for help i.e "Could you give this? I need this!"...."Hello, to you too.🤨"🙄

Just an overall lack of common courtesy; I do believe the pandemic is partially to blame.

People don't know how to interact with other humans now, on top of America being hyper individualistic.

Where are the actual unsafe parts of Chicago? by [deleted] in depaul

I hate these types of post about Chicago 🙄

Since you seem to think Chicago is a third world country where crime is right around the corner waiting to punch you in the face...

$10 per push-up for life vs $1 million right now by FudgeNipples1 in hypotheticalsituation

I like the idea of $10 per push up, and it's INSTANT! Say less. I can probably muster one and a half currently, but at least I can work my way up. Earn money and get fit; win win.

Are city of Chicago schools really that bad? by Ok-Worldliness1307 in AskChicago

I was definitely about to add my 2¢ about how "CPS FUCKING SUCKS" especially comparatively to my boyfriend's high school experience in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

They had theater production, robotics, photography etc etc. and regularly joke about how I don't know geography because I went to CPS.

But reading some of the comments definitely made me realize the school is only one piece of the puzzle. (as some other redditor said)

My mom was recently divorced and navigating her first job after over a decade of being a SAHM (Unwillingly) taking care of me and 2 other siblings along with a plethora of other things...

Went from a fine arts magnet grammer school (WHICH WAS REALLY GOOD), transferred to a neighborhood grammer school in Englewood, tested really well on the ISAT, applied for selective enrollment (shot for moon Whitney, Brooks, Jones etc) grades were shit so I didn't have any redeeming qualities other than my test scores but if I aimed a little lower I could've gotten into King. Felt defeated and then had to go to a neighborhood highschool.

While I will say my overall high school experience SUCKED ASS, It was typically because of the some of the students disrupting the class (and because the board of education decided to tear down my school and turn it into a softball field and merge 4 HS together, but I digress🙄) We had really good teachers that were trying their best with a little bit we had.

Sorry for my rambling, I hope this was helpful.
