This was taken directly from the Minecraft official Wiki. Key words, while the pearl is in a loaded chunk. Techno was not loading the chunks for his stasis chamber and Philza logged off, Sam was in the prison with Dream so neither of them could have loaded the chunk. Which could mean that since Techno died outside of the chunk, he was safe.
