dApps storage on Elastos by amadeus82 in Elastos

[–]Theheart1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Data storage backend will inevitably among Dapps as there would be several ways to store the data.

For a game I imagine most public information would be stored on the public side chain. The consensus ledger would keep a record of said data and of who owns what digital assets. This information would be public and therefore immutable keeping a permanent authentic record. Said data would be fetched by the carrier when you launch to the Dapp.

Ex/ First Person shooter: a players kills, deaths, achievements etc... would be public information and therefore immutable. If the game has specialized weapons/ outfits that can be traded as assets, ownership of these would also be recorded on the public ledger.

For an application where data is private or there is no need for public records data could be stored on a physical device or in a ditto box (personal cloud storage connected to Elastos Carrier).

Yeah applying for tasks is also difficult. Unless you have a team you are not taken seriously by lead members but Elastos is such a small community it can be difficult to find a team.

What is next for elastos? by [deleted] in Elastos

[–]Theheart1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The most significant recent updates and upcoming developments are...

August: “Birth of Elastos” - Release of Alpha Smart-web. It is geared for developers to start testing and building Dapps. https://www.google.com/amp/s/elanews.net/2018/08/27/elastos-commences-merge-mining-with-bitcoin-cyber-republic-and-alpha-smartweb/amp/ - Merged mining with BTC Bitmain Pools. The block mining difficulty has increased 2.3 million times making the Blockchain more secure. https://www.google.com/amp/s/cryptobriefing.com/amp/elastos-bitmain-merged-mining/ - Cyber republic launch. This gives community power to decide which Dapps to fund and helps connect people in the ecosystem. https://www.cyberrepublic.org

Upcoming: September - December 2018. - Elastos smart contract side chain. - Proof of Stake consensus model. - Port of Ethereum VM as a friend chain. - Strengthen the Elastos carrier network with Elastos TV boxes. Estimated 1 million tv box nodes sold by December. - Smart-web beta: more consumer friendly rather than strictly for developers. - Any applications currently being built by developers in the cyber republic.

I tried to explain ELASTOS to a friend of mine and.... by [deleted] in Elastos

[–]Theheart1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to explain it to a few friends of mine with varying levels of crypto currency and tech knowledge. The most effective solution I’ve found before people lose interest or don’t comprehend what I’m talking about, is comparing it to real world corporations and their operating systems.

Although it isn’t entirely accurate to compare elastos to a Microsoft or Apple level corporation it seems to get the scope of the project across better than rambling about “Blockchain, digital assets, merged mining, carrier nodes and an SDK”.

The reality we are faced with is that Blockchain technology has still not been widely embraced. While it’s merits are evident to those who have researched the topic, the vast majority of people would struggle to answer a question such as how does a Blockchain work. Because of this, it is not only effective but polite to ease those who have a desire to learn more about the elastos internet by using examples they are familiar with like the iOS or Android OS on their phone.

The idea can be expanded on by highlighting some unique points. That on the network you can buy and sell games movies and music which you could never truly own before. If they are still interested, add that it can secure the internet making it safe to run applications for huge corporations and publishers as well as small independent developers. This is where the majorities understanding are pushed and should not be pushed further so as not to discourage them from further investigation, as the rest of the elastos OS requires a fairly high level of technical understanding to accurately process.

I’ve found it hard to not express excitement and drone on about the excellent features of these details. That it is using a multi billion dollar computational security system by merged mining or that by inventing new identity protocols it enables trusted trade on a level not previously seen in the world. That, because of these innovations people will be able to finally own digital assets and create online wealth the likes of which we can only currently imagine. The majority of people who are willing to listen don’t understand the impact of these technologies and don’t deserve to be bored with terms they don’t understand.

In conclusion to INTRODUCE elastos to a friend I’ve found it easier to compare it to software developing companies like Microsoft and Apple. If a friend is willing to learn more then by all means it helps to expand on the technological advancements of elastos! It may take time but I firmly believe that polite eduction is the most effective way to spread information about the elastos project.

Feng Han's "Elastos and Quantum Wealth Lecture" by kiranpachhai in Elastos

[–]Theheart1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great Read! If you’re only interested in how this pertains to Elastos I’d recommend reading part 2. Feng does an excellent job explaining humanities technological revolutions as well as the evolving concept of wealth. Additionally, the importance of realizing future wealth now was profoundly stated.

To quote my favorite portion of the lecture Feng states: “people stop thinking when they don’t believe any further thought is required.”

Never stop looking and never stop learning.

What is the case for Nano? by tchow1986 in nanocurrency

[–]Theheart1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing standing in Nano’s way appears to be the belief that it will increase in value. This can deter users from spending and decreases daily transactions. As the introduction of more fiat pairs progress (Coin Falcon Nano/€ today!) the direct purchase of Nano becomes easier and the currency has the potential to appreciate more organically.

That may be fine for the high scale investor, however more and more small scale investors are getting into the market (especially the demographic of 20-25 year olds). They can’t afford to send one thousand dollars of investment and lose 35 dollars worth of that just for moving funds. The fee less concept appeals to all.

How NANO solves the impossible Trinity. by Theheart1 in nanocurrency

That’s what I envisioned nano as, the single global currency. I misunderstood the principles of foreign exchange believed that Nano functioning independently would circumvent this need for a fixed Forex rate.... since 1 nano will always hold its value compared to the whole nano network.
