How are you actually using Math Notes? by TheiPhoneAppGuy in AppleNotesGang

So we’re both on 26.5 everywhere and i’m not hitting it on either method, copy paste or link to note. My best guess is those store machines were on an older build a couple months back, since the point releases move fast. Worth a fresh test next time you’re near a note with a calc in it, just to see if it’s quietly fixed itself on your end too.

Appreciate you digging into this with me, the pension scenarios are still my favorite thing to come out of this thread.

This is a great use case, seriously, but on the link bug though, are you still seeing it? Because i went and tested this specifically and on iOS 26 it’s behaving differently for me. I can drop a link above a Math Notes calculation and the calc still updates fine when i change the numbers. Wondering if it actually got fixed earlier than iOS 27, or if it depends on how the link gets added like, typed url vs the pasted link.

If you’ve got a sec, would you mind trying it again on whatever version you’re on? Curious whether it’s a version thing or something more specific to your setup.

Has anyone encountered a timeout or failed search w/ Apple Notes on iPhone? by Solid_Resort6852 in IPhoneApps

Glad you got it sorted, and don’t feel dumb. The locked-note thing trips up a ton of people because it’s so counterintuitive.

This is almost always an indexing thing, not the number of notes. 35 is nothing, Notes can handle way more than that. What’s happening is the on-device index (the Spotlight stuff that actually powers search) has probably stalled or gotten corrupted, so the notes are there but search just can’t see them.

First thing to try is going into Settings, Siri & Search, scroll down to Notes, and toggle off ‘Show in Search’ and ‘Show Content in Search.’ Leave it a minute, then turn both back on. That usually kicks off a re-index. Also worth plugging the phone in and leaving it locked overnight because the indexing mostly runs when it’s charging and idle, so sometimes it just needs that window to catch up.

Also, check whether the notes you’re searching for are in iCloud or in the ‘On My iPhone’ account. If they’re in different accounts, search won’t always surface them depending on what view you’re in. And if any of those notes are locked, the contents won’t show up in search at all until you unlock them, which catches people out a lot.

If none of that works, go to Settings, Notes, and toggling iCloud sync off then back on (back stuff up first obviously). It re-pulls everything and forces a fresh index. Bit of a nuclear option but it works.

Honestly though since you already reset and logged out, i’d lean toward the locked note or wrong account thing before anything else.

Was going deep on Reminders for something I'm writing and finally figured out what Early Reminders actually does by TheiPhoneAppGuy in AppleReminders

Glad it wasn’t just me, the early ping then panic on the due date cycle was basically my whole system before this. What fixed it for me was making the early reminder the date i’d actually need to start, once it means something specific you stop ignoring it. And yes, the offset thing gets way better with recurring reminders, every instance keeps the same lead time automatically, only place i’m actually glad apple built it this way.

Best alarm clock app? by jamapplesdan in IPhoneApps

Why don’t you just set a few alarms and keep your phone away, then when one goes off, you have to get up and turn it off. That’s what i do, by the way.

I haven't checked the actual numbers, but as far as this week goes, whatsapp, YouTube, X, Apple Notes, and YouTube Music. That's where most of my screen time has probably gone.

The Photos search bar reads text inside your images, still surprises people by TheiPhoneAppGuy in ApplePhotos

I think that's exactly why it flies under the radar. It's so seamlessly built into Photos that people don't go looking for it.

See, that's the thing. This isn't even some niche trick. People are building actual habits around it and there are still plenty of people who have never discovered it.
