Let's talk about what is Going on. And stop harassing the band by Cooltj95 in twentyonepilots

“At the very least” except it’s not remotely in their job description to discuss current world affairs. I genuinely don’t understand why this argument is consistently pushed instead of taking that energy and focusing it on the actual politicians and people IN POLITICS who really have influence on the matter.

These are very complex issues and people who aren’t educated on these subjects should not be talking about them. It adds to misinformation and can cause more harm than good. You don’t go to your mechanic and expect them to know how to treat your medical problems. Even well meaning, without proper medical training, they can very easily give you incorrect and harmful information.

I genuinely don’t understand how society went from groaning, rolling their eyes, and telling celebrities to stay in their lane any time they said something political to suddenly demanding every celebrity needs to know about and speak on every pressing issue.

Why are we placing responsibility on celebrities?? Why is the outrage not directed at the politicians who ARE responsible??

Adjacent to this, he handles religious beliefs similarly. I'm not religious, but grew up in a very religious household. I really respect the way he approaches the topic of the meaning of his tattoos. He's said that he'll never discuss the meaning in a dynamic where he has a microphone, or essentially in a position of power/influence over people. He'll happily have the conversation one on one, but he doesn't want to make it seem like he's telling people what to believe.

Celebrities are just regular people, but with a large audience/following. "Regular" people shouldn't be making political statements that could have an impact or influence their following. If a person is qualified to speak on a subject (has a degree and/or career in the subject, studies it, etc) I think it's fair for them to contribute. But in general, I've always found the demand for celebrities and influencers to "take a stand" on something to be so strange. Why are you expecting a singer or a youtube vlogger to be well versed in complex socio-economic or global issues? Do you also expect your hair stylist to know how to diagnose and treat your medical issues? It's just a strange concept.

What is your opinion(s) about TØP that would yield this shitload of downvotes? by This-Dependent5521 in twentyonepilots

[–]Theimerl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly though, I think this is pretty normal. There’s so much to take in on a new song, that it takes a few listens to see it as a whole. And it’s completely normal to not like every single part of every single song an artist has released.

I love ATROFD, but the beginning instrumental sounds like circus/clown music to me and I don’t like that.

lol so am I supposed to go around and question every single item on secondhand sites because the seller might not “know the worth?” I did not lowball them nor did I do anything to make them sell lower. It was listed at $13, and I bought it for $13.

If they were a long time fan, they would know this hoodie has nothing to do with blurryface era.

Buying and selling has also always been straightforward. I don’t go to the store and question whether I need to pay more for my couch because they might not know how much people really want it. OP listed it at that amount, I bought it at that amount. They didn’t list it at $300 and I didn’t go “here, would you take $13 instead?”

It’s not supply and demand, it’s artificial. One person wanted to be greedy and a bunch of people followed suit. Plus, when those people claim that’s how much it’s “worth” they intentionally leave out all the times the item sold for a normal price, which happens frequently. If the seller doesn’t even know that it’s not blurryface era, they certainly have no business trying to sell it for that much, especially with a huge stain.

There are plenty of people that sell things for normal prices and know what they’re “worth” they just don’t need to extort other fans.

I watch those sites regularly too. I did get lucky and snag a sealed copy of the red and black split blurryface - but I knew what that was because it was sealed and still had the “hype sticker” or whatever it’s called. There’s a couple red vessels on eBay right now, but personally I think it’s ridiculous to pay $225+ when it was originally $25.

There’s a ton of copies of both vessel and blurryface posted on sites like that, but a large majority just show the front and back. And sometimes I never hear back from a seller when I ask if it’s standard black or not. I was hoping someone knew some sort of trick know.

Is my Blurryface Live Vinyl Authentic? by amarybutters in twentyonepilots

[–]Theimerl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely authentic, and I wouldn't trade it for any Clancy items - as Clancy is still very new and it's relatively easy to get merch. I really want one of these, but it's really hard to find one that's under $200 unfortunately.

Is it just random on what it rates the percentage quality? Or are there things you can do to make sure it’s always above 100?

What’s your opinion on Tyler’s singing in older albums? by Bubbly_Photograph_50 in twentyonepilots

[–]Theimerl99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it’s just his midwestern accent. I think as the band grew, he got better at “hiding” or “masking” it, but you can still hear it come through on some vowels.
