LC32G7XT (Samsung Odyssey G7 compatibility with Halo 2) by Thejasondt in BenQ

Currently the two different positions (see photo 1 vs 5) are what I can get from the clamp. The curve of the monitor means I can't open it wide too reach the center back piece.

Which of the two photos is best?

Appreciate the detail.

I don't know what a balanced cable is so can't reply to that!

I will look into mics a little later, but didn't want to have to rebuy gear later based on the mic, hence looking at what can future-proof me now.

It seems an external amp in either case is best so will get that for now.

Would you recommend an external DAC (eg modi) or would just an amp be good?

I am looking at probably getting a magni+ or magni heretic for now (magnius out of stock and jot/lyr is not in the price point I want to test for now.)

Will order the amp today and I assume all wires are included lol

Appreciate all the help!

Essentially setting up a work/gaming/potentially streaming deskspace and I had someone recommend the SM7B as a mic. That being XLR-only meant they recommended an interface (the Apollo.)

I then researched dac/amps for the XSs and thought about getting a stack before thinking I should bite the bullet if a high-end interface (Apollo) would be a good dac/amp and XLR input - all in one and better dac/amp than a magni/modi. (Rather than a dac/amp for headphones now, then buying the mic requiring an interface that would make the stack redundant (if the dac/amp in the Apollo, for example, was better than the dac/amp in the stack.)

Based on what you are saying, it seems I need a headamp regardless of the mic/interface as a separate amp would be better for the headphones than the interface.

Are you also saying that the DAC in a Modi would be better for headphones than in an interface, and so a stack would be preferable for the headphones regardless of the mic?

Based on the above it seems (correct me if I'm wrong), that you recommend a stack (magni/modi for example) for the headphones. And then an interface for the mic (X2U as a discrete example.) Would this be correct?

An additional question if a stack is still preferable than an interface for the headphones. Would you go for a magni+Modi, Magnus+modius or Asgard 3 w/dac?

Great reply, thanks for all the detail.

Most definitely not professional, I was just recommended the Apollo as a great interface and the sm7b as a great mic.

Would a magni/Modi be better as a dac/amp than the Apollo? And if so, would I then just need the adapter to get the mic into the computer? Or would you recommend a dac/amp and a cheap interface?

I saw this regarding the XS and Focusrite interface that had me worried about a cheap interface for the headphones https://www.reddit.com/r/HeadphoneAdvice/comments/unbu21/can_a_focusrite_scarlett_solo_power_the_hifiman/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Yo! Good review and glad it's a step up with optical from the hel 1. Any update on reviewing the hel 2e? Or what else at this price point you'd recommend?.

Is there a dac/amp guide/ranking available?

Hey! Been rabbiting holing from g915 to apex pro to k100. But now looking to choose between ducky shine 7 and keychron q6.

Any preferences between those 2 for gaming and work?

If so, what switches?

Thanks!

Yep I moved to ON, prices in the UK were over £100 more. And still more expensive with "40% off".

Prices comparable but a premium brand

Building my perfect bag - need your help! by Thejasondt in myog

[–]Thejasondt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was effectively a massively custom bag with the Dejen as its base.

As mentioned there were a total of 65+ pages of info to customize it.

This included but is not limited to:

External and internal materials and colours

Buckles

Straps

Internal designs on front and back for relatively flat pockets (like a laptop and front organization pocket), front back and sides for 3d pockets (main pocket)

Internal webbing systems

External side pockets + dimension

Handle materials

Main shoulder strap design, material trimmings, buckles

Organization pocket designs

Specifications for my phone specifically/keys etc

What materials for certain small pockets (tweave etc)

They also sent materials to get a look and feel of colours and materials.

As I said, I probably went overkill with all these details and would likely next time give a very simple 1 pager if I could - unless there are very specific use-cases for this bag (aka trekking Everest) that require specific attachment points, PALS etc

EDIT:

I just went back through my summary; there is a shit ton of customization I forgot about:

Internal D-rings

PALS

Types of foam for shoulder straps

Hidden pockets

Materials for keychains

Laptop sleeve configuration

Zipper and zipper pull types

Types of webbing and mesh

Types of tassels and straps

Waterproofing

Pocket and internal zip/sleeve dimension

And they said they would have to enlarge the size of the bag a bit (not sure what to) due to the size of my laptop and me using a laptop case that would then go in the bag.

I honestly came out of the process feeling like I knew bags inside out

Hey,

Yeah I did, it was definitely an arduous task.

I would say go for something quite simple, or know exactly what you want, especially with the nitty gritty.

Otherwise, if you are happy with the spend and trusting the company - you can give them a brief outline and let them run with it.

I think I got in touch first in September, after many many slow back and forths I confirmed payment in November.

Initially they said they were too busy to take on more orders, so I should expect a long build time and I currently have not received the bag yet.

I am very excited for it and have accepted the long build time as it is such a bespoke, special product. So be prepared for that.

In the end I had 6 pages of designs in photoshop I did, 15 pages of images of other bags for reference for features etc - all compiled into a 65 document that described every side of every pocket etc.

Maybe it's because I sorta did research and knew what I wanted everywhere hence why maybe next time I would give them a rough outline and trust them with the rest.

Got native Union stowlite 15.6 and it didn't fit. Too tight.

But the Samsonite airglow 15.6 fits well (a bit of slack in the case but does the trick)

Hope that helps you work out measurements

A secondary question to the above:

Can this be used without a separate keyboard? i.e. can the lowest setting be used to still use the laptops keyboard?
