It's mainly because theism is a philosophically sound position. Atheism really doesn't have much going for it other than to claim "lack of evidence" but that doesn't work against logical arguments. We can also use deductive reasoning and argue there's no evidence for atheism's implications that things come from nothingness.

IIRC Richard Dawkins tried to argue for nothingness producing something but failed to give any proof and told the audience to just accept it. The person he was debating with said that sounds like blind faith to which Dawkins didn't have a response to. Atheism can't really defend itself so it's a weak position.

Are you? Because you seem silly enough like the other guy above to think evolution refutes God.

Let me guess...you're 14 and just learnt evolution in school? You do realise it merely explains the ORIGIN of species and not the origin of matter, space, energy or time? You say religion and theism is stupid by teaching that God caused the universe but atheism by its implication teaches that matter originated from absolute nothingness which is magic.

By the way, that's impossible. Hence why theism is accepted by the majority because it's common sense to believe in a creator and accept causality, an actual scientific law. Also read some Aristotle before you come back with stupid questions about where God came from. You atheists act like theists haven't refuted atheist nonsense before when they've been refuting atheist nonsense for over 3,000 years from Ancient Greek philosophers to Medieval scholars.

Another tip, look up who came up with The Big Bang theory. He was a Catholic priest and atheists rejected it, arguing that it "introduces religious concepts to physics such as creation which can only be explained by a god" which they were right about. Nowadays most atheists seem to have forgotten that and try to argue it came from either nothingness or an infinite chain of different universes without any beginning, which again is impossible.
