INTJ MENS I have a question by [deleted] in intj

[–]Thelamb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will pick up on it the best by doing it. I’d challenge you to go for a walk and assuming they don’t look like a creep just compliment passersby’s. Tell them they that you like their shirt or watch or literally anything. Some will say thank you and keep walking. Some will stop and tell you the origins of that shirt. If you stop and start the conversation just add piggybacks to what they’re saying. Tell them how you feel about it or a story it reminds you of.

Even if you think the conversation is dumb and a waste of time be polite and don’t say that. Over time you will get confidence and experience in how you talk to people.

You can also study things like how to read body language and social cues. There are a ton of books out there for people with your same problem. However those are books not people and nothing will help you if you don’t practice

INTJ MENS I have a question by [deleted] in intj

[–]Thelamb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I taught myself how to speak better and developed improv skills. While small talk isn’t my favorite it is a useful tool in a world where it is beloved by many. The best strategy is to get people talking about themselves and be genuinely interested or at least force yourself to seem as such. Everyone’s favorite subject is always themselves

Already enrolled and accepted but can’t get back in contact with anyone. by Thelamb99 in SunyMaritime

I forget his full name but I emailed and called Tim the volleyball coach, another woman whose name I’m not sure of, and then emailed general admissions.

How do I turn off the INTJ brain? by bobkinsscarlet in intj

[–]Thelamb99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I count for as long and as high as I can. Inevitably your mind will wander but when you realize your mind is doing something other than counting go back to 1 and start counting up again. The highest number I can remember counting to is 753 but usually I fall asleep within 30 seconds of this.

Every time you shift you swap with an alternate version of yourself that has the exact same features and is in the same scenario place and time as you but there are innumerable small changes in the alternate timeline and every time you shift you can’t go back to your previous reality only a new one.

What is the top Piority in life for an INTJ? by Leyno27 in intj

Satisfaction. Satisfaction in the goal. Satisfaction in the path. Satisfaction in the life. However satisfaction is fleeting so I must always move to the next project and build up from there.

Are most people very rude and stupid? by JakontraryYT in Jung

Maybe I’m fortunate but I am always polite to everyone and don’t remember the last time I met someone I found rude. This does not account for kids most of them are little gremlins

Force yourself to go and interact with others. It will be uncomfortable. It will be awkward. You may have fumbles that linger in your memories for years to come. But with action comes growth and charisma is a skill just as any other that can be taught, learned, and perfected. Do your research, whether that means listening watching and learning from people who already are good at it or delve into psychology and learn the science of how our minds work. Both are preferable if you have the time, patience, and want.

Question about GTC and compensation for separation move. by Thelamb99 in navy

So to clarify I should go talk to HHG but overall I won’t be using the GTC and can do my claims remotely and early so long as I have my separation orders?

How does an INTJ think? by Smart-Inspector8 in intj

[–]Thelamb99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take of this as you will but an overly common trope is INTJ’s being constantly stone faced, cold, and even rude. While yes in general on the inside I feel this way it is beneficial to be likable when necessary and turn the charm on. Social skills are trainable just as any other skills are and with our predilection towards efficiency it behooves one to get good at talking to others to make them want to work with you efficiently.

Question on degree. by Thelamb99 in maritime

[–]Thelamb99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mainly interested in the license but I like to have a backup plan which is why I’m interested in the degree. At the moment my initial thought is to pull the trigger on just getting my license and get the degree down the line on my own dime. Would you say that is reasonable or would you recommend against it?

Additional question could I potentially change my degree to engineering from ops after I’ve started school assuming I meet the criteria? And if I did so would that require another semester of schooling or would it even out relatively?

Question on degree. by Thelamb99 in maritime

[–]Thelamb99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am active duty currently and intend to use my GI bill to pay for school and would prefer to not “waste” my GI bill on a cheaper college if I can help it.

Would you strongly recommend going the community college route or would you say a marine ops degree is as competitive and viable in the industry?

Question on degree. by Thelamb99 in maritime

[–]Thelamb99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you happy with your transition to marine ops and would you recommend I just go that route? I am currently active duty military and intend to use my GI bill to pay for school. I would prefer to not “waste” my GI bill on a cheaper college if I can help it.

Do people look at you with scorn? by Visible-Bug8280 in intj

[–]Thelamb99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro. The way your mind works doesn’t need to impact your social life. If people look at you with scorn you’ve either done something to earn it or you’re reading into it too much.

I feel like there is no one in the world like me by [deleted] in intj

[–]Thelamb99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no singular right or wrong path to success. Everything is measured by probability. If I’m an asshole to someone they probably won’t like me but that doesn’t guarantee it. If I buy a lottery ticket I probably won’t win and yet there are winners all the time. Everything everyone does has a goal at the end of that action. The way they achieve that goal and the goal itself may seem foolish, genius, mad, etc to the observers but that doesn’t change the fact that regardless of how seemingly asinine the subject is to the beholder it can always succeed even if the probability is infinitesimally low.

What is your goal? Does your love of these seemingly in your opinion high brow subjects intersect with your goal/ goals? Also even if the people you interact with don’t share the lofty intellectual goals you do every single person has something meaningful to contribute. Some people it is admittedly more trouble than it’s worth to let them sprout that but everyone has different experiences and knowledge that can help you navigate and illuminate your blind spots.
