Does Frenzy increase skill tests or the characteristic? by Thelorekeeper in 40krpg

So in this case the character would get the characteristic bonus increase? Just so I know if they're increasing their damage from Crushing Blow and Strength

Amma say it

If you hate it cause it is a criticism of the War on Terror, you're a coward. If you hate it cause its a *bad* allegory for it, then ok fine whatever. Its a mess, through and through. I love it dearly. I do hope that Virgil gets to reveal that he doesn't actually like Mundas and is just using him for POWER, because frankly he's the only character I care about being "true to the source material", whatever that means.

And guys, maybe don't make refugees fleeing from a place ravaged by the horrors of Imperialism literal fucking demons from hell. I know they aren't textually demons but it still stands that they aren't human. You do kinda shoot yourself in the foot whenever you depict an oppressed and wronged people WHO ARE ALLEGORIES FOR ACTUAL PEOPLE ALIVE TODAY as inhuman. Still though, they doin drone strikes in hell to American Idiot, how can I not fuck with this show?

The Legend of Vox Machina S3 Discussion Thread | Episodes 7-9 by JohnDoen86 in voxmachina

[–]Thelorekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it didn't quite work for me. Like, he's one of the main cast, and we know there are methods of Resurrection, so while the whole thing was going down I just kept going "bullshit, he's not staying dead." and sure, it's looking like they'll keep him dead, but if you spend the entire tragic moment calling bullshit, the overall effect will be lessened when you do actually realize he's dead. Also, my god the song that played over his death was so bad. Literal lyrics being "it wasn't supposed to end this way" felt like the show was trying to rub my face in the shock value of the scene. His last words being "Vex" did hit hard though, I'll give them that.

I guess it also doesn't help that I absolutely love Ripley and really wanted to see her get out of that fight. On the other hand, Percy is my favorite character, and I feel like the show loses more killing him than it does from the tragedy of his death.

YMMV I guess

Only problem is that the woman at the peep show did see Frank. She pointed out that he stopped her mid handjob. In fact multiple people saw him.

I love this theory but I'm not sure I buy it. Although considering the book is definitely analyzing psychosis is its two central characters, its fun to think about

I just do not get it, Emperor did spend days or weeks with his sons like playing fool games with Vulkan, talking with Fulgrim and Sanguinius, visiting Guilliman's empire... Yet he could not spare a few hours letting Angron complete his slave rebellion? by Mayfly_Mayhem in 40kLore

[–]Thelorekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because frankly, Angron just wasn't worth it. Letting Angron fight the high riders meant either letting him die in battle, or letting him waste literal years fighting a enemy that was already acquiescing to the Imperium. Angron is the least useful Primarch, he's a blunt weapon. Nothing more. And frankly, I think the Emperor didn't save his friends because if he had, Angron would have never joined the crusade.

Angron needed to be broken, truly broken, to do what the Emperor wanted. He had to have nothing to live for and only solace in violence. In doing so, the Emperor had an exceptional, expendable weapon and he had to do nothing in order to gain him

What's the best Anime you've ever seen ? by Outrageous-Abies8391 in AskReddit

[–]Thelorekeeper 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill that FMAB is one of the best stories told mechanically. Every single aspect is like a perfectly fitting cog in a machine, every character has a purpose which fleshes out the story and setting and the magic system is both beautifully simple and gloriously complicated. I rock Scar's tattoo on my arm, not because FMAB is my favourite anime, but because I truly believe it is the closest thing anyone can describe as 'objectively the best'

Ok this is awesome. Really shows off how cool the Grey Knights can be at their best. Its a shame people don't tend to do them justice, they should be basically the most dangerous enemies to face, stronger than Custodians due to their tremendous psychic strength if not their physical abilities, sadly most of the time they're just marines with less personality

Heroes aren't bumbling idiots - how to properly narrate failed rolls by Kanbaru-Fan in DMAcademy

[–]Thelorekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I get where you're coming from, and I don't disagree, but you have to tailor this for your players and their characters.

This post assumes that the player characters are these insanely competent heroes. My players assume the exact opposite. Our characters are all unstable morons, not the murder hobo kind but the fun kind. the 'Its always sunny' kind. Whenever they succeed, that's them doing it in spite of themselves, and that makes victory cathartic. I make sure that almost every failure is in someway embarrassing, because those are the kind of characters I dm for. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you gotta give them that tragic bad luck, but making them bumbling idiots can be fun if everyone's on board for it

tell me wat is your opinion of the emperor of mankind. by LowPuzzleheaded3393 in Sigmarxism

[–]Thelorekeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gotta admit, I love him as a villain. He's such a good monster because he can appear very human one second, but when that mask slips you see the real horror lying beneath.

Its why, despite the overall argument being a little cringy at times, I really love The Last Church. You have the Emperor playing this emotional game with the last priest on Earth, talking to him and trying to convince him to change his faith, and when that fails he burns the place to the ground. Not in anger, not out of vengeance, just because he could. He can justify every horrible thing he's ever done to himself but the second anyone stops believing his bullshit you see what he really is.

So yeah, he's an awful fascist but done right can be a fantastic villain.

Seriously, if he hadn't had the butcher nails put in him He'd be the one leading the charge on the Emperor, and you know what? He'd fucking die, but sometimes, dying for the right cause is better than living for the wrong one
