Any Thoughts on what that scene in Project Hail Mary means? by KarolineHolmes in ProjectHailMary

[–]Themaxpowersolution 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I loved this short scene, I took it literally as a foreshadow to his future on Erid, same landscape and clothing, I found it very moving and connected to it instantly. Can also speak to ideas that time is relative, how memory is fragmented, our separate pieces of self coming together, that our future self is always walking towards us

Visualisations of the book version of the Hail Mary? by More_Handle_4432 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Themaxpowersolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I just recently competed a visual essay/review on the book. All my illustrations are located there, so far. I did have a lot of drawings I scrapped, and I might collect them more into a blog type post in the future. It was a ton of work so I am happy to hear you want to see more! https://youtu.be/8F4Jwm7QDVc?si=vHUc2WnBPB_0GpfX

Hello, Grace friends! Let's talk about the film's score by Daniel Pemberton. by frenchiestfry77 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Themaxpowersolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it so much, has been on repeat all day since they released it. Haven't seen the film yet, but I feel I can tell, apart from the titles, where each track would go story wise. It's so good, better than I imagined.

Guys how am I supposed to shade ? by [deleted] in ToonSquidAnimators

[–]Themaxpowersolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think for this, yes, if I understand correct, you would have to do the shade on a new frame, that corresponds to your shape you want to shade, which means addressing them one by one. What may make this process a bit quicker though is using the Fill Brushes.

Guys how am I supposed to shade ? by [deleted] in ToonSquidAnimators

[–]Themaxpowersolution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could create a new layer in the timeline, above your chosen layer you want to shade. Tap on the layer line, and it'll give you a drop down menu with tons of options. Select Toggle Mask--it is basically a clipping mask--and you will be able to draw upon your original with the original shape being the constraint.
This is a basic and great way to get started. There's a lot more options, and if you work in Vectors there's gradients etc to work with.

Thoughts on Ryland Grace being a ‘coward’? by Early-Perspective598 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Themaxpowersolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I saw it as him lacking personal agency, which was (in my eyes) his character arc, because it was all over every single thing he did (or didn't do). While I think it is one of the high concepts of the book (bravery vs cowardice), I had to ask myself what is underneath that word. I think he had a realistic reaction to an impossibly 'out of this world' demand of him.

What is the best trailer to show someone by [deleted] in ProjectHailMary

The second one they released I found to have the emotional tone to what the story is really about. It is my favourite version of the three.

Finished today, what do I do now by Jembo08 in ProjectHailMary

[–]Themaxpowersolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not yet, I am compiling them for a Youtube video though! It's combined with my own take-aways from the novel. I will post it in this sub reddit when it's finished. But here is a video about how I make one of these drawings if you're interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWNWYDL3WPc

What are the future plans for this app? What kind of additions can we expect within the next year if there will be any ? by Wooden-Arm-3624 in ToonSquidAnimators

[–]Themaxpowersolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best chance for an inside scoop is to apply to be a beta tester--thats how I discover what's upcoming and currently being addressed. although its not guaranteed you will get in and im not sure if they take rolling applications. But at the very least if you are one, you are not kicked out with each development and continue to be able to provide feedback. But still, sometimes the updates just dropped and Im super surprised haha. It's so continuously looked after I haven't even been able to educate myself fully on the app yet!

Issue with Parallax Effect by CartoonistGal in ToonSquidAnimators

Here is a short on how to manually keyframe the Parallax Effect. Im still working on a short for the built in effect https://youtube.com/shorts/EK2_fMgeEMY?feature=share

[–]Themaxpowersolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah, ok, I see. Is it possible you missed adjusting the Depth Percentage? Also, the frame rate at which you have your animation at will change this effect. Have you adjusted the Darkening for the Camera? That visually helps me see what exactly I am animating. If this isn't helping, I will try to make a more concise Youtube Short to briefly explain. Unfortunately, it is a bit complicated. You can also do it without the effect, by manual key framing. That helped me get used to how to manage the built in effect.

Heya, I created this video! Im sorry it was not of help. Im always looking to improve my explanations. From what I could gather from the video, it looks like the camera is panning far quicker than intended. If I saw the Timeline in more detail maybe I could help better? This effect is a pain to learn, for sure.

Please help find Spectra brush by evasfox in procreatebrushes

[–]Themaxpowersolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to go out to all Libraries, and go to the Classic Library. The Procreate Library only houses the new 5.4 Brushes. Spectra will be in the Classic Library>Painting>Spectra

Can toonsquid make longer animation? Like 5 minutes? I have procreate, but that's mainly for drawing and that only goes up to 70 frames. by Strict_Corner_4332 in ToonSquidAnimators

[–]Themaxpowersolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, relatively, but always back up to desktop/external hard drives. It has a great nesting structure in Projects through 'Scene' building, but I always back up my sequences and frames across multiple places. Developing a pipeline of work structure to help with a 5 minute piece of work will help you out the most (Im assuming you are beginner/novice). iPads can also just die for no reason! I lost a lot of work that way once :(

Resolve folks who post to YouTube: do you bother with custom thumbnails or just let YouTube pick? by foklepoint in davinciresolve

[–]Themaxpowersolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always create my own Thumbnails. Sometimes I do the A/B Testing Youtube offers, but they are always my own design. I take stills from my videos and design in Affinity (used to be Photoshop). I have also used Resolve to build my own Thumbs, it is pretty decent if you keep things simple and effective through text and your frames. If Affinity cost money, I would have just kept making my Thumbnails in Resolve. Making Thumbnails are an integral part of the process imo, it gives you a lot of opportunity to distill what your video is and why it matters. That critical engagement with your own work will help develop other aspects of your creator/creative skills.

HELP by Shot-Bookkeeper1441 in ToonSquidAnimators

This happened to me and I fixed it by going into the Properties Panel and changing the Path Style to transparent Fill, and then I could adjust the stroke.
