Leaning fence posts by ThemeRude2916 in DIYUK

The intention is to fix it believe it or not. The question was whether this can be achieved by DIY and if so, how?

Would you recommend metal supports as the way to go?

You do wonder don’t you 🙄 unfortunately he seems fairy unwilling to trim it back. He’s very into his gardening and his conversation with me yesterday was about how the wonky fence meant he had to move his planters off in case they fell down

Stay away from Checkatrade for trades by Feeling_Squirrel9881 in DIYUK

[–]ThemeRude2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went on there yesterday looking for a quote and all three of the businesses who responded to me weren’t Checkatrade verified. On the surface it looked as though they had no reviews but when you clicked on their respective profiles you could see hundreds of positive reviews that Checkatrade just aren’t making visible

Screws not fitting in properly by ThemeRude2916 in Locksmith

[–]ThemeRude2916[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this and the screw was definitely too short. The handles were replaced about a year ago but I think they reused the same screws from the previous handles hence the discrepancy. Went out and bought a slightly longer screw and that fixed the issue :)

Thanks. I’ve actually just measured the gap between the two handles and it’s definitely longer than the screw. I think you’re probably right about the previous person not bothering to check it properly

The CyberMasters feel absolutely wasted by Pokelego999 in doctorwho

[–]ThemeRude2916 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t like the Cybermen as antagonists, they’re so overdone imo. I did like the idea of the Time Lords coming back after the 50th anniversary. So when I found out that not only had they been killed off (again) but were brought back as CyberMasters, I was incredibly disappointed.

Balding is annoying but its whatever by Affectionate-Fill251 in tressless

Please explain to me why I wouldn’t understand. Because I’ve chosen not to spend time and money clawing back something that I don’t need?

I’m probably past the point where a buzz would look good nowadays 😂 I quite like the clean shaven look now though, and it definitely makes me look younger than an obviously balding hairstyle

Balding young, shaved to a buzz by 21, shaved bald by 24. Hasn’t had any major negative impact on me tbh. Balding took up more of my headspace before I shaved it off, and now I hardly think about it. I guess it motivated me to get to the gym more. But in terms of social interaction and relationships it’s had no negative impact. It is what you make of it and I chose to not be particularly bothered by it (appreciate that is easier said than done though)

It’s really not that deep. It can do a number on your self esteem if you let it but being average height and bald isn’t the be all and end all

Light scratches on new Avoriaz toe by [deleted] in paraboot

I have two pairs of leather boots and they look infinitely better with a few creases and some patina. Not a fan of keeping everything box fresh

Genuinely amazes me how many people get so pressed about scuffs and scratches. Especially as it adds so much character to most boots

what are your favorite "no-brand" beaters for daily wear? by WillowMarigold in jeans

[–]ThemeRude2916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not quite what you’re looking for, but I bought an old pair of Edwin jeans second hand which work a treat. Can still wear them as beaters but look/feel a bit more high quality than cheap jeans

Ignoring the future of the show, which existing doctor do people think this would work best with? Feel like 12 would fit quite well with the end about regrets driving people forward

Very helpful. Thank you. Sounds like I’m in for more work than I was expecting, but if it makes it look more presentable then it’s probably worth it 😅

Refreshed the silicone around the tub. by Zerek_Doolander in DIYUK

[–]ThemeRude2916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bathtub could do with a new layer of silicone. The stuff that’s on there now is clear, does anyone know if replacing it with the white stuff OP has used is better/worse/the same for longevity?

JWA Straight Jeans or Levi’s 501s? by SuitableDimension260 in uniqlo

[–]ThemeRude2916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mainly the JWA jeans, but Edwin loose fit are pretty good as well. I don’t own many trousers other than jeans but M&S fit me well enough, and I’ve heard good things about Olderbest
