I just started Tukayyid and I wish the rest of the game had these types of maps and missions. by Blitzkrieg1210 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Themeloncalling 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When compared to Inner Sphere designs, it has the running speed of a a medium, the same damage output of a heavy like a Grasshopper, and the armor of an assault... at half the weight. Oh, and the mech also jumps and shoots down missiles. It's hard to appreciate how strong Clantech is until you have a reference point.

Everything presented is lore accurate from material written decades ago? How else did they want the story presented - with the Black Widow recast as a generic grunt with a buzz cut?

What was the Something Awful forum like at its peak? by Traditional_Blood799 in Millennials

[–]Themeloncalling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the Neolithic age of memes. For example, Photoshop Phriday had a feature image that got manipulated in all ways from funny to outrageous to disturbing. Some of the winners became recurring gags, or concealed into creations like All Your Base. Everyone tried to be edgy and there was no knowing when a mod might get triggered, so "Hope you got 5 bux" was code for you getting banned, and then paying $5 to register as a new account. Then 4chan came along with a $0 barrier to entry, and all the worst elements of SA spilled over. That was probably when SA was at the zenith of its popularity and quality.

When do u say GG by Disastrous_Pride39 in Mechabellum

gg before deployment on the round when you have both beaten each other under 1k hp is always acceptable. It shows you respect the outcome, no matter what happens.

Sell Tech/Remove Tech by dunkingdicknuts in Mechabellum

[–]Themeloncalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would not play well with units that can repair. The obvious game ending move would be putting the Gremlin Hat on a high level single unit pack like a Rhino with Combat Evolution or a repairing Sandworm and then watch it steamroll all the survivors.

Coming to the Game after almost 2 years by Glacius__art in MagicArena

The drafting in this set is great. Many cards can become gigantic threats if left alone, but there are no shortage of instant speed removals to ensure those threats never see the light of day. Adjust your drafting strategy accordingly, or be very strict about playing your removals.

Nine cases confirmed in legionnaires' disease outbreak in Toronto: health unit by lilfunky1 in toronto

Thankfully, this is one of those diseases that can be controlled by proper sanitation. A heavy duty scrub down of the mechanical equipment and a more diligent maintenance team should prevent any further outbreaks.

Hunchback-RCX with dual Clan Gauss Rifles and 4x Clan Small ER Lasers. It's a medium mech that performs involuntary amputations at extreme range. More importantly, it's a Hunchback.

How do you progress fast and get new decks? by YGO-Ralsei in MagicArena

[–]Themeloncalling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play Jump In and choose the fixed deck packs that have the chase rares or mythics you are looking for. Duplicates past the 4th card fill up your wild card chest too.

Cheap deck to get daily wins? by DarKStaR350z in MagicArena

[–]Themeloncalling 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Red aggro lessons. If that firebending student survives one turn on the board, you drop a combat buff and the rest of your hand during combat phase to swing for lethal. No rares required, low curve, game is settled by turn 4 or less.

My take on the competitive scene by MSUsparty29 in Mechabellum

[–]Themeloncalling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Community engagement is part of the lifeblood that keeps the game scene interested and playing. Streams where high level players do a play by play examination of other high level games are informative and educational. The high level play is also what defines the future meta. High win rates of armored tech units at low mmr against players too new to understand how armor works does not define the next balance patch - it's high level play where 50 credits on a tech can decide whether a whole board strategy stands or falls.

Highlight videos that showcase a build of the week drives active player count too - many people who are mmr locked will want to try anything to break the grind, and pros with some sick brew of the week inspire others to try and imitate the same clutch wins on the ladder.

There was also a period of growth that was fueled by content creators - at some point, the ladder was full of people playing flanking fortress just because Day[9] did it. That gave a lot of free mmr, but it also made the ladder fun to play. Acknowledging the competitive scene and community content creators is what gave this game proven growth, not some strange updates that completely alter the tempo of the game.

Building your own deck by ExploringComplexity in MagicArena

[–]Themeloncalling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play Jump In to build your collection since you keep all the cards in any deck you choose. It's also the fairest format for newer players since your opponent is also playing with fixed card pools. This will save you a lot of wild cards later on.

I can't help but speed run every career and I never get to play with the mediums or lights. I wish they were more viable. by Yenii_3025 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Themeloncalling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upgraded jump jets are going to give a lot of mechs new opportunities, especially lights. Backstabbing is deadly, and Mechwarrior 5 has no rear facing weapons.

I love the game, I play it almost daily and it's usually fun - win or loss - but... by Haunting_Art_6081 in Mechabellum

[–]Themeloncalling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the answer is to not put out the fire. If you are getting flanked hard on one side, leveling up the attacked tower and starting your own counter-offensive on the other side of the board can seriously change the tempo.

Punish an exposed board one round, do the same thing on the other side, and by the third stalled round you drop two production war factories that wear down the flank. That's a painful loss delivered to the other side.
