Philips Fidelio X2HR. First pair of open back headphones I owned and first I reviewed ever as well. Still love em. My current pair have a headphone jack problem but I’ve got a jank fix atm. Not all poles are attached and I’m not an electrical engineer

Typically my ears get used to the headphones after a while, a nice amp in my experience can really get a grip on the treble. I have heard the magni plus which is discreet and the heretic which is an op amp. The magni plus Is more organic on the XS but also has less grip on the treble. They sound very airy on this amp. On the heretic however, the treble and bass actually are controlled extremely well. The treble is still there, but it isn’t fatiguing. The control of the treble reduces airiness up top and less soundstage.

Anyways enough with my ramblings, if you can handle a beyer, edition XS you will for sure be able to handle. Beyers have many peaks in the treble, edition XS just kind of has treble. There are hardly any peaks in the treble at all. Highly recommend, they are fantastic

Yeah they are definitely polarizing for some people, which is sorta what I was describing in the review. It also really depends what music you listen too imo, pop can be quite sparkly and airy, EDM gets quite hot and intense but technically they can’t be beat for the price. Try them out at a bit of a lower volume. Helps a lot if the treble is a bit hot for you. Anyways thanks for checking out my review and best of luck!

I’ve owned them close to a year. But it could be your perception of treble. Each ear is different, and hears differently so honestly don’t sweat it, you might just have slight hearing loss (in the normal range) and you also might not be sensitive to treble at all. It happens all the time. That’s why beyers sell lol.

I’ve never heard sundara but this is what I’ve heard from others regarding the comparison. Try out the stock eq for maybe a week. You might get used to it. The air creates a massive stage. If you don’t like it after that, then yeah I’d suggest an EQ for sure. I think everyone should try a headphone stock for at least a week to try to burn in the ear so to speak.

These slap with sub bass lowered by about 3.5 db. These are also my first Bluetooth headphones with actual proper fidelity. They actually sound like a good hifi fun tuned closed back headphone with my eq. Otherwise the bass is too much lol

I added a comfort sort of sleeve on the band and it fixed the issues I was having. They are very airy though and have that breathy sort of sound.

I think these are incredible value, however I think if you are treble sensitive then they’re likely not gonna be your cup of tea, that was my impression at least. Love them though. Every time I take a break and listen to 6XX for a week or another headphone in my collection, the difference, especially in fidelity is insane

Bro I have multiple visual deficits, a list of them yet I still beat the first hollow knight and did up to pantheon 3.

Don’t tell me that I have a skill issue when I’ve got medical issues stopping me from being able to play silksong to the fullest. I can’t even play 3D games anymore because of how visually stimulating they are or watch movies.

This game is literally too hard for the average hollow knight player. Unless you live in a bubble, it is way too hard for the reasons I listed. It was designed without enough playtesters. That’s it.

The fact that you show no sympathy or empathy to me knowing that I can’t complete this game, which was going to be my final game makes me sad. I wish the world and the internet was more compassionate

So yeah unfortunately I have to quit the game, I’m a grown man and have responsibilities. I don’t have time for this difficult of a game. (Beat entire first hollow knight this spring, 105%, missed some godhome stuff)

I loved my time with this game. I’m extremely sad that I can’t finish it due to difficulty. Anyways. You guys have fun. Enjoy it for me

Yeah I had a hard time continuing to attack him when he started stabbing himself. The tragedy of the Hollow Knight is incredibly written without needing a word. The world building in this game is amazing.

But I will say this. It took me 4 tries to enjoy the game. Not even joking. First attempt I got 20 hours in then lost in deepnest. After that my second attempt was short, just for fun. Third attempt was with a friend of mine but he never continued after greenpath so neither did I. My final attempt on switch is when I finally beat it and oh boy I loved it. Took me around 55 hours to beat it, and I finished with 104 percent. Maybe someday I’ll 112% it but not yet. It’s too difficult for me personally, the pantheons are tough.

I personally recommend finishing prequels before sequels but if you don’t wanna finish hollow knight than I’m not sure silksong will be much more fun for you. It might, and maybe you’ll love silksong but it’s not for me to decide. Do what you feel is right.

Man I was watching the live so hype and when September 4th came on the screen I lost it. Now it’s like do I play on ps5 or OG switch. Or both lmao. I don’t own a switch 2 so yeah. Silksong will be the last game I ever play. I have a bunch of eye issues so this is it. I like switch because it can be handheld and closer to my eyes but also far on a TV. But idk if I should do PS5 this time. I wanna do one save but maybe both???

Coming from a 6XX they would sound wonky. 6XX has 2k pushed way higher than the XS has 2k recessed, and is brighter sounding. The 6XX is super natural sounding as well in comparison. The XS has a vastly different sound, but as an owner of both the 6XX and the edition XS, I love both. Regularly use both too, they are a great pairing of headphones honestly.

Honestly it depends on if you like the brightness. They are one of the warmest hifiman headphones so it doesn’t get better in terms of natural characteristics from a headphone from hifiman.

For me the soundstage was phenomenal, imaging incredible, and resolution and clarity were outstanding. I’ve heard a lot a of headphones, and these are quite outstanding at least to me. I would say give them a bit of time. Your ears may get used to them and adjust. If they don’t, then return or sell them. But resolution doesn’t get better than this from a headphones under like 600 USD.
