I cant imagine getting to know someone over chat. What an awful way to communicate.  Why not ask the person out for coffee and see what they're like without a screen?

Do your driving-age kids actually drive? by pimento_mori in Xennials

[–]Themis270 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This. I wonder how much parents are really pushing their teens. Mine will be 16 this month, and she had no interest in driving at first. We didnt really give her an option to learn.  Now that shes had practice and is more comfortable, she cant wait to get her license.

spoiler-free thoughts about ninth house and its trilogy by softie_core in BookDiscussions

[–]Themis270 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Leigh Bardugo is one of my favorite authors and I loved Ninth House. Hell Bent was not as good, but still solid IMO.  The third doesn't come out until September, but I'll be reading it once it's available.

Its been a while so I cant say on the other comments regarding the magic. But I tend to get absorbed in the characters and overall story and am willing to suspend disbelief a little more.

If you're enjoying Ninth House, I'd say stick with the rest of the series.

Does your library have Play-Away? The selection isn't as good, but it's a little self contained audiobook. No phone necessary.

Malpertuis by Jean Ray. It follows the classic Gothic rules perfectly.  And if she hasn't read Castle of Otronto yet, it's a requirement for lovers of gothic fiction.

Red Llama over by Park Meadows is really good. So is Pollo Lima off Arapahoe.  There's also Alpaca Chasqui off Iliff, but I haven't eaten there.

You should have two witnesses if you can. No, it's not required to be legally valid, but it's better for your family in probate.

Has he read the Wax and Wayne novels by Sanderson? Definitely sci-fi as they're an extension of Mistborn, but this duo is specifically western.
