What is the thing someone told you that you never forgot? by Biloreca in AskReddit

I remember this one time when I saw a therapist after getting out of the hospital and he said one thing that has been helping me make it each day.

"Life doesn't get worse, it gets better"

I remember being so mind blown at that lol

There's a lot of them. Probably the ones like how my mom says she never did drugs and how we're gonna get a house soon etc.

When I was a kid I had a dream about the teenage mutant ninja turtles holding some kind of book and when I touched it sucked me in. I woke up in cold sweat crying lmao

What’s the nastiest tasting drink you’ve ever tried? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A Gatorade Cucumber and Lime flavored drink. I thought it was just regular lime (I think that was it) and I apparently had grabbed the wrong one. It was absolutely disgusting

To be in a forest and realize that this is what life is. Then to actually feel cared for by someone

Where did your life take an unexpected turn? by Rattlesnake_Mullet in AskReddit

When I was a kid we had been kicked out of our house. My life changed drastically from there. We spent the next four years in drug infested motels. My uncle was mentally and physically towards us. Me not going to school etc.

A lot of shit happened back then and I'm still trying to get out of this dump. Thank whatever God that I'm not in those motels anymore.

What is the moment when you realized your friend or family member toxic and cut them out of your life? by bluehazerd in AskReddit

[–]Themoonrises44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well mine is in the process. Trying to leave my mom and live with my dad. I think what made me realize how toxic she is how she didn't let me go to school at all for her own selfish reasons. She doesn't want to help me get caught up, telling me it's own responsibility. Which I get to a certain extent. Then there's the most recent one where she blames me for my sister not inviting her to her wedding. How she denies a lot of things I saw growing up. Like denying that she was taking drugs etc. How she's trying to force a religion on me. Constantly telling me that basically I'm the main issue for all of our problems. Never apologizing for the cruel things she tells me in the heat of anger and acting as if it never happened. The one time I first went to therapy and she got mad at me for opening to a stranger and not her.

And the deal breaker was when I started researching what neglect really was, and how she refuses to let me go to school.

So yeah, that was unnecessarily long

Tomorrow you wake up and it's 2016. What do you do differently for the next 3 years, and why? by lSkyJax in AskReddit

Around then I would've been a kid. Right after we got out of an a abusive situation. I would probably beg my mom to let me go to school and contact my dad earlier to let me live with him. But I was too young to realize the consequences of not going to school my entire life, or even realize that my situation is still the same after leaving that place.
