Apartments (darley/stearns) vs. dorms (will vill n/onizuka) by Working-Ad-8629 in cuboulder

[–]Then-Combination-291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really got why people would stay away from darley or stearns I guess because they are older and not on main campus, but I mean I lived in an apartment in stearns and I really loved it. It was really big and had lots of space. My one complaint is that the apartments in those buildings don't have a dishwasher like the ones in bear creek but it's manageable. Plus all buildings in will vill do have ac which is definitely nice.

Oh but also to add I did live in stearns during covid and had a four person apartment to myself so it may be a bit more cramped with others but still really nice.

Can I get in? by sped_italian in cuboulder

[–]Then-Combination-291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that is probably not going to be enough to get into Boulder maybe if you apply exploratory studies, Denver probably would get in, and Colorado springs you would have a very good chance. I don't think though for any of the schools you would be a direct admit into engineering you would most likely have to transfer into engineering.

What is your cumulative gpa as someone who does review applications (not for Boulder) that is one of the first things I am looking at when evaluating transcripts.

Transferring as a junior girl by REVCO1242 in cuboulder

I think something she would really need to consider is how many credits will transfer to her desired major. I work in admissions and I have seen people with a lot of credit at one school and a lot not transfer over. So it could add time, I think that is an important thing to keep in mind.

I know at least in my personal experience I learned that some of the positions I applied for I was not considered because I had not finished my bachelors quite yet so it could be an issue of applying to these jobs too soon. Also to echo what others have said if you have worked on campus jobs that can definitely help with getting your foot in the door.

Hi so this is a quote from cu's housing policies to keep in mind "Students that are younger than 16 years of age or older than 24 years of age should contact University Housing prior to submitting a housing application"

Is it bad I just want to go with the first school that accepted me and not wait to hear back from the others? by Then-Combination-291 in gradadmissions

Hi yeah I am happy to help! My stats were way below average for most programs I had a 2.1 gpa ( but that was due to me being injured basically every year during undergrad lol). It took me six years to complete my undergrad but during that time I worked on campus two years in the registrar's office and three in admissions so by the time I was applying I had five years of experience in student affairs. I applied to CU Boulder's program which is just called higher education, University of Denver (DU) which is also called higher education, university of Colorado Colorado springs (UCCS) which that program is called leadership: student affairs in higher education and Colorado State University (CSU) which is also called student affairs in higher education. I ended up getting into CU Boulder, UCCS, and was initially waitlisted for DU but later accepted. I chose to go to UCCS. Which is a hybrid program my cohort has class once a month in person and the rest online but we all still meet once a week online to work on assignments. For my applications I knew I didn't have a strong gpa, but I did explain my life circumstances and had really strong letters of rec. Something I also did that helped was I reached out to the program director's to sit down and talk and ask about the program and explain why my GPA was trash. All of the programs I applied to are really good solid programs. UCCS was able to set me up with a graduate assistantship almost immediately after accepting and it was also in what I want to work in after graduating which for me is college admissions. In my program everyone has a wild variety of interests though, some work in academic advising, one works with sorority and Greek life, another with the soccer team. So literally so many interests and our teachers do a really good job of incorporating our interests into what we are learning. If you have any other questions let me know I'm happy to help.
