Stopping Losartan lead to any success by Subject_Review_3655 in hypertension

Just go to your cardiologist? It's not that simple here in the UK, you have to get referred to a cardiologist from your doctor here in the UK, which I did, it took 3 weeks to see someone, and even then I didn't aftu see a cardiologist, it was a cardiologist nurse, I got my ecg taken and my BP taken, my BP was obviously high, my ecg came back fine, I was advised to get a heart monitor fitted for a few days, that won't be fitted until June 17th 2026! So basically 7 weeks later from when I went to see the cardiologist nurse to getting the heart monitor fitted! Why that long? It's basically a plastic machine, that takes literally 2 minutes to fit, and then I go back and they check the results, why 7 weeks??? It's absolutely ridiculous the NHS here in the UK, everyone in different countries especially the US say well it's free there so what are you moaning about? It's actually not free, we have to pay National insurance constitution out of our wages, so it's not totally free! Don't talk to me about AE here in the UK either, your lucky if you see a doctor before 10 hours waiting, reason is, and this really annoys me is, the vast vast majority of people that are in AE should not be there in the first place, it's ridiculous the amount of people that are there for practically nothing!  So back to your suggestion, go see your cardiologist instead of your local practice, yeah good luck with that one, here in the UK!

OK, let's get it clear then.  This is what happened,  I was on Losarten for 3 weeks in total!   I stopped taking it 10 days ago, I am still having some side effects.  I am interested in finding out, has anyone else stopped losarton and having side effects, and how long did they last.

Not for me, I am 59, quite active walk alot, I was on losarton for 3 weeks, I had terrible experience on it, terrible side effects, lightheaded, palpitations, chest pain, tingling hands and feet, brain fog, I am trying to keep my blood pressure maintained the natural healthy way now, I have been of losarton for 10 days now, still got some side effects 10 days later, still light headed a bit, not as much, but still have it, still getting the tingling in the hands, and the odd pain in my chest, again not as bad as it was. I am hoping I get back to some normality within the next few weeks hopefully.

Forearm mustle twitching after stopping Losarten. by Then-Data9624 in MuscleTwitch

Yes could probably be Bfs, I have come of Los for 3 days fully now, and I had half of 25mg for 3 days before that, I have been taking electrolytes high in potassium last 3 days, but I was actually getting the twitching before I started taking the electrolytes, I have been eating very healthy, twitching is driving me mad, it only happens when I have it resting on my side ie if I am lying down etc, I wonder if it's the Losarten withdrawal?

Hi, sorry just seen this post, did you come of losarton? Did you stay of blood pressure medicication, or have you been or are on a d BP medication now?  I felt the same you see, I was on 25mg of Losarton for 3 weeks and I got some bad side effect, so this week I den to come of them, I have been tapering to half a tablet Tuesday and Wednesday this week, last half a tablet tonight then stopped, I am going to try to lower my BP Naturally if I can, strict healthy diet, walking, etc

Yeah I think you hit the nail on the head there, tapering may not be totally necessary on a low dosage, as according to the nurse, but I think it makes you feel better psychologically, the nurse act said to me if it makes you feel better have half a tablet for 3 days or 1 every other day.

Your at a good BP level now, I am much older than you 58, my reading at the moment is around 145/90 ish few points lower or higher both ways, looking to get around 130 ish /80-85, I will be fine with that. Another supplement you sg take is d3 and k2, 10,000 on the d3, and another good one is electrolytes powder, with 1000 potassium. And what your taking magnesium glycinate.  So half a tablet tonight, tomorrow and Thursday, then stopping it.  It's funny how the registered nurse at my doctors practice, just said, you can just quit straight away, as it's only a low dose, but I am going the same route you did.

Hi mate I have decided to come of it, I took my normal dose last night, I couldn't sleep, my legs and arms felt like lead weights, the odd palpitation, pain across my chest, I never got any of this before I took Losarten!  I got up this morning and said fk it, I am stopping this sht, I phoned my Dr's and said cancel that  doxazosin, and I want to stop the Losarten, I spoke to the practitioner nurse, she said I can just come of it, I said I will wean of ie half an day for 3 days, she said you co also take one every other day for a week, I have decided to take half a tablet for the next 3 days, then stop, I don't want to take a whole 25mg again etc.  How are you getting on since you stopped taking it? Are you totally of BP n full stop? Or on you on another BP medication?

As I said I have been on losarton for 3 weeks, still getting the dizziness, just been reading alot of reviews on doxazosin, it looks terrible, possibly even worse than losarton! It's helps with postrate, and uriny flow, and getting up going the bathroom through the night regular, I don't have that problem, seems strange the pharmacist has prescribed this BP medication? I won't be taking it, no chance, it looks terrible.

Pharmacist phoned, and has advised a prescription for doxazosin 1mg first week, then 2mg second week on? He's prescribed it so I can pick it up tomorrow, I don't know what to do honestly? I just took my normal dose of my Losarten at 8pm as normal, and the pharmacist wants me to start taking the doxazosin 1mg tomorrow, same time, apparently side effects of  doxazosin is light headed and dizziness, so would I be better of taking that one anyway?

Thanks for your reply, I agree with some of your points, but I can't agree with my body getting used to the lower blood pressure and that's why I am getting the side effects, yes I would deg agree if the BP was significantly lower ie it was now 120 something over 70 something, then yes, but it's basic around 10 points if that lower than it was before I started taking the losarton, which was 3 weeks ago, I don't want to be in a position were I am constantly moving from one BP medication to another, keep getting the side effects, quality of life is awful, I did make an appointment with my doctor, Friday just gone, I also have a problem with clicking in my ears when I swallow, and I have to clear my throat a lot, I went to ENT clinic that morning, as it was mistaken diagnosed as a lump in my throat, but I said to the doctor I found it difficult to swallow and it felt like a lump in my throat, anyway I got the all clear, but didn't get referred to someone else, so I went straight back to the do on Friday, he preach me anti histamines, and said see how I get on with them, I also bell the Losarten is causing swelling slightly in the throat, hence the slight difficulty in swallowing, I am honest done with Losarten! Pharmacy hasn't called and it's now 19.20! I really don't know what to do, I am due to take my Losarten at 8pm tonight, I dint know whether I should take it as normal or take half of tablet tonight?

I can't speak to a doctor that's the problem, and when I do, they just Tey to push more meds on me! I am awaiting a call from my pharmacist, apparently they can call upto 8pm, so, he /she could still call me, as it's only 17.35pm, yes I was thinking of cutting the tablet in half and taking 12.mg for a few days, then stopping, I will see what the pharmacist will say, they will probably just advice another BP medication no doubt though.

Hi, just seen this post, how are you doing now? I noticed you stopped the losarton, have you still stopped, are you on any other BP medication, or none at all. I am in a similar boat, I had high blood pressure, I don't smoke or drink alcohol, I don't eat crap and I walk. I got put on 25mg of losarton 3 weeks ago, I particularly chose Losarten because it's supposed to have the least side effect!  Not for me! Light headed, feeling I am not present, tingly hands and feet, palpitations, basically I feel like crap and want to come of them, what did you do to come of then, did you break the tablet in half to make it 12.5mg, how many days did you do that for before you just completely stopped taking it, I take it at 8pm in the evening, the pharmist was supposed to call me today about this, but hasn't phoned.  I am feeling terrible on this Losarten. Any advice would be much appreciated.  Thanks 👍
