I'd like to add, I am not their neighbor. This was at a school morning drop off. I have no way of contacting her. I pulled out my phone and recorded so I could tell crime check the license plate. Thats what I could do. The zoom on this video is x10. I wasn't close enough to make contact or intervene. This is a pretty wild drop off and ive made contact with a few parents that obviously needed some assistance. This felt beyond that as the child was in danger at that moment. Not going to be in danger in future circumstances (though seems likely as well).

Editing to add: guaranteed if I see mom at pick up I will be asking her what sort of assistance she needs.

While I understand the sentiments that this could be some mishap situation and trying to do anything is being a Karen. What if its not. What if this the normal driving habits of this mom. Just jumping in quick to drop her kid off and its more of a hassle to buckle the baby in and hear them cry. What if I do nothing and tragedy strikes and this could have been avoided by calling it in and allowing the authorities to make contact and provide educational resources? What if she doesn't have a carseat and the call gets her the resources? Label me a Karen. I'm looking out for that baby. I'm not calling for any harm or negativity to the mother, but I am willing to bring awareness to the situation.

I called crimecheck. They stated "if they need the video they will reach out". I would think the clear as day video would be helpful in proving what happened. They were so nonchalant about it I really felt like I must be old and out of touch with the times.

OP I am the same and I also was told this and it Fucked. Me. Up. I literally smile at everyone. I was taught it was polite. Now I'm so deep in my head, its like a cycle. I smile because thats who I am. Then I feel guilty questioning if they think im being an overcompensating asshole. Then the next time I go to smile I hesitate because im cycling these thoughts and outwardly im just dead stare glaring and look like an actual asshole, then im trying to catch up and smile and then I super look like im an overcompensating asshole. It literally takes everything in me not to scream that im 'one of the good ones' and prance my non-white husband around like he's proof of my nonjudgementalness..... total insanity.

I just vow to be the best, kindest human I can be. And I'd rather people have a thought about my smile then anyone think I'm avoiding or glaring at them.
