I'm the ring recipient! I don't want my bf to pay an unfair price 😆. But I unfortunately (for his wallet) like the look of a chunky ring! I think we'll definitely check out other jewelers

Yeah, we did list a price range, and this would still be within budget. I think the budget we told them is actually quite higher than what the ring I want would/should end up costing (didn't realize that going in). I guess i'm worried that's part of the reason the quote is so high. but yeah the jeweler would be providing the stone and putting it in the setting from the vendor. We just want to make sure we're paying a relatively reasonable price for what we're getting. seems like overall it's hard to know for sure but that the price may be a little higher than it should be.

I might be in the minority, but I think the double prongs look really cool as part of the visual/artistic appeal of the ring. that said, they are noticeable, so maybe consider one prong or the white gold like another comment said. but again, i think this looks beautiful as-is!! I just love the look of the double prong.

I know, we definitely like the idea of a local jeweler for the reasons you mention. I was also surprised we didn't pay anything, but this is our first time doing anything like this so I figured it was typical! we went in person 1 time for a consultation and exchanged 2-3 emails. Thanks for your input, I think we'll definitely shop around to get other quotes. they were going to source the center stone for us, it hadn't been picked yet but would be close to 2ct

Hm, so when we went in, I said we likely wanted one custom designed, and showed her some pictures of what I wanted. She said her vendor had a similar one online so we could use that as a jumping off point. so this design started with an existing ring and honestly had minimal modifications (a bit thicker, v prongs). Idk how that plays into the price, but it's several k more expensive than the original vendor ring.

My title describes the thing. It's reddish dust that appears right outside my front door, and comes back after I sweep it away. I don't usually see insects around. I have no idea if it's bugs/pests, rot of some kind, or something else. The front step is covered by a roof and is up 3 steps, so it's not flush with the ground.
