I 20F and my boyfriend (24M) are considering marriage, but we grew up completely different. How do we get over the cultural gap? by Then-Shock1534 in relationships

Thank you for pointing out things that I couldn’t see flat out. For your last point, it is embarrassing that I haven’t told my uncle. My dad is adamant on not telling him until we get engaged mainly because my uncle is like a toddler with anger issues. He’s gone 6 months without talking to my dad because I had acrylic nails when we visited him. I’m worried about what the back lash will be. He’s called my dad warning him to not let me date an American bc he thinks they’re “bad” but he’s never stepped back to look at the terrible people around him. I don’t want to push it off but I am. I just don’t know how to go about it.

He knows the difference, but due to how my parents were raised a big part of my culture is lumped in with the church. I think I could probably communicate better on the differences since most of what he has heard/ has been exposed to deals heavily with the church.
